Consumers are attracted by the increasing number of available SVOD platforms, but it would be too expensive to pay subscription fees for all them. To reduce costs, consumers can combine use proprietary subscriptions, non-proprietary and illegal streaming sites. In turn, platforms could enforce access control, a decision that might produce desired reduction in subscriptions also an undesired subscriptions. The effects this determinants content demand remain largely unexplored. We propose baseline model where is driven variety seeking, household financial situation, ethical evaluation, social norms, as well change variation users’ trait reactance perceived fairness decision. conducted survey on current ways consumed responses hypothetical control enforcement, with four randomized versions authentication mode. Results confirmed many proposed showed noteworthy due enforcement no effect modes.
