Ear surgeries such as mastoidectomy require a clear surgical field with minimal bleeding for optimal visualization and outcomes. However, during these microscopic endoscopic procedures can obscure the surgeon's view potentially impact precision efficiency. The study aimed to identify effect of intravenous tranexamic acid ear surgery. PubMed/MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Embase were systematically searched from inception through August 31, 2024. Two authors also manually independently all relevant studies. We included RCTs (1) patients diagnosed otitis media or middle infection; (2) interventions surgery mastoidectomy; (3) comparisons specified normal saline no treatment; (4) outcomes subjective score (bleeding surgeon satisfaction), objective markers (amount bleeding, duration surgery, mean arterial pressure [MAP]). Data extraction was completed by 2 extractors cross-checked research integrity. pairwise meta-analysis performed compare treatment group control used in Hedges' g standardized differences (SMDs) difference (MD) improvement Efficacy scores satisfaction, well measuring amount MAP. Abstract Background Tranexamic acid (TXA), a fibrinolysis inhibitor, is widely used in various surgical fields to minimize blood loss. However, its efficacy and safety plastic surgery, especially reduction mammaplasty abdominoplasty, remain underexplored. This study investigates the utility of intravenous (IV) TXA these procedures, focusing on reducing postoperative complications evaluating context venous thromboembolism (VTE). Objectives To evaluate abdominoplasty. Methods Using data from TriNetX LLC (Cambridge, MA) National Health Research Network database, this retrospective compared adult patients undergoing or abdominoplasty who received intraoperative IV against those did not. Primary outcomes included seroma hematoma incidences, whereas secondary assessed necessity for procedural drainage occurrence VTE within 1-year postsurgery. Results No significant differences rates risks hematoma, seroma, need between administered were not, both Additionally, not increase risk either patient group. Conclusions application does provide added benefits such as drainage. Furthermore, it alter thromboembolic events. These findings highlight further research, particularly through randomized control trials, understand TXA's surgery. Level Evidence: 3 (Therapeutic)
