Abstract: Digital Eye Strain (DES) is a clinical syndrome manifested with visual disturbances and/or ophthalmic dysfunction related to the usage of screen-enabled digital equipment. This term gradually replacing older computer vision (CVS) that focused on same symptoms found personal users. DES encountered more frequently during past years due explosive increase in devices and subsequent time front any screens. It presents series atypical signs stemming from asthenopia, dry eye syndrome, preexisting untreated issues poor screen ergonomics. review summarizes research data date determine whether concept has been conclusively defined demarcated as separate entity if sufficient guidance offered professionals lay public. The maturity field, grouping symptoms, examination techniques, treatment prevention modalities are summarily presented. Keywords: strain, classification, management

Purpose: Conjunctival-resident γδT cells, the predominant ocular source of interleukin-17A (IL-17A), play crucial roles in dry eye disease (DED) pathogenesis. The upstream regulators these cells are unknown. This study evaluated role conjunctival IL-23 expression mediating cell generation and elucidated its contribution to inflammatory responses. Methods: Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) was used identify quantify mRNA molecules mice. level increased wild-type (WT) decreased γδT-deficient (TCRδ–/–) mice after induced via an intelligently controlled environmental system (ICES). Flow cytometry transcriptome were investigate impact changes on human cells. Results: receptor (IL-23R) greater than other types, such as CD4+ T CD8+ epithelial An increase led density, which proportional severity. However, TCRδ–/– mice, upregulation failed IL-17A severity eye. Furthermore, increases number evident surface patients who developed visual display terminal syndrome. Conclusions: contributes induction DED response through interactions with cognate promotion their proliferation. findings this suggest that suppression blockade IL-23R activation may be a viable target for improving management inflammation patients.

Hexahydrocurcumin (HHC), the primary metabolite of curcumin, shows promising therapeutic potential due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) plays a crucial role in maintaining homeostasis; however, dysfunction—linked oxidative stress chronic inflammation—contributes progression degenerative diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD). This review highlights HHC protecting regenerating RPE cells. It explores effects on RPE, mechanisms underlying damage, involvement reactive oxygen species (ROS) inflammatory mediators. has demonstrated ability modulate these pathways by activating nuclear factor erythroid 2-related 2 (NRF2), enhancing defenses, inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine production. Preclinical studies suggest that mitigates vascular remodeling endothelial dysfunction reducing expression transforming growth β (TGF-β1) matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9). Moreover, improves nitric oxide bioavailability promotes synthase expression, thereby counteracting stress-induced damage. Emerging evidence indicates may be candidate for treatment diseases, particularly those associated with inflammation. However, further studies, including clinical trials, are essential confirm efficacy elucidate precise HHC’s protective

Background Computer vision syndrome (CVS) is a common occupational health problem, but its clinical definition, prevalence and risk factors are not well defined. In general, non-validated diagnostic instruments have been used to assess prevalence. For this reason, the aim of study estimate potential for CVS using validated questionnaire. Methods A cross-sectional ( n = 238) was carried out in Italian office workers digital devices. All participants responded an anamnesis, exposure questionnaire, version Vision Syndrome Questionnaire. battery 3 ocular surface tear ophthalmic tests (break-up time, BUT), Schirmer II corneal staining) performed. Results The mean age (±SD) 45.55 (11.02) years, 64.3% were female. 71.4% wore glasses work, whose design monofocal (for distance) 47.6%, near) 26.5%, general progressive 16.5% 8.8% cases. 35.7% devices >6 hours/day workplace. 67.2%. multivariate model, female sex (aOR: 3.17; 95% CI [1.75–5.73]), use at workplace 2.07; [1.09–3.95]) optical correction work 2.69; [1.43–5.08]) significantly increased odds CVS. Association observed between presenting having abnormal BUT χ 2 0.017). Conclusions workers, especially among females, high. Intensive (>6 hours/day) There association poor stability Further research needed on influence wearing questionnaire surveillance strongly recommended.

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of astaxanthin in treatment mild-to-moderate dry eye disease (DED) middle-aged and elderly patients. Methods: 120 eyes 60 patients with DED were enrolled this prospective, one-group, quasi-experimental study. Six milligram Astaxanthin tablets (Weihong Haematococcus Pluvialis Astaxanthin, Hangzhou Xinwei Low Carbon Technology R&D Co., Ltd., China) administered orally, twice daily for 30 ± 2 days. History diseases, treatment, systemic disease, medication before test recorded. In addition, ocular surface index (OSDI) questionnaire, non-invasive tear break-up time (NIBUT), fluorescein (FBUT), corneal staining (CFS) score, eyelid margin signs, meibomian gland (MG) expressibility, meibum quality, dropout (MGDR), Schirmer I (SIt), meniscus height (TMH), bulbar conjunctiva congestion degree, blink frequency, incomplete rate, thickness film lipid layer collected weeks after initiation at end treatment. Visual acuity (VA), intraocular pressure (IOP), anterior segment, fundus, discomfort symptoms other adverse reactions also monitored throughout study to assess safety. Results: OSDI NIBUT, BUT, CFS MG frequency improved significantly varying degrees compared those (P < 0.05), while TMH, SIt, conjunctival congestion, layer, MGDR, VA IOP did not differ > 0.05). Conclusions: Oral administration improves signs DED.

Purpose: To assess optical and motor changes associated with near vision reading under different controlled lighting conditions performed two types of electronic screens. Methods: Twenty-four healthy subjects a mean age 22.9±2.3 years (18- 33) participated in this study. An iPad an e-ink reader were chosen to present calibrated text, each task lasted 5 minutes evaluating both ambient illuminance level luminance the Results: Eye-tracker data revealed higher number saccadic eye movements minimum than maximum luminance. The results showed statistically significant differences between (p=0.016) (p=0.002). length saccades was also for devices: 6.2±2.8 mm 8.2±4.2 (e-ink max vs min), 6.8±2.9 7.6±3.6 (iPad blinking rate increased significantly lower conditions. Conclusions: Performing tasks on devices is highly influenced by configuration screens lighting, meanwhile, low visual quality that are transient young people, found.
