The National Ecological Barrier Zones are an important part of China's ecological security strategy. construction a scientific and reasonable pattern (ESP) is for the healthy development national barrier zones. existing literature does not consider impact potential changes in ecosystem health land use on ESP construction. In this study, we considered typical composite area, Sichuan-Yunnan barrier, to analyze such areas; probability future growth change, circuit theory, service trade-off synergy, construct sustainable ESP. Spatial heterogeneity was observed level barrier; high-value areas were mostly distributed central southern parts study but low-value northeastern western regions. contained 246 sources (distributed forest grassland contiguous south, central, northeast regions), 563 corridors that portrayed obvious differences spatial distribution, 123 pinchpoints, 231 barriers, topographic gradient characteristics. Based data, proposed relevant policy opinions zoning control. results show incorporating trade-offs services into assessments can lead more effective selection sources. Meanwhile, constructed by using correct resistance surface truly reflect need under trend. research framework "ecosystem assessment incorporates - theory" could address technical issues constructing compound large regional/national regions key function areas.

Landscape connectivity, the extent to which a landscape facilitates flow of ecological processes such as organism movement, has grown become central focus applied ecology and conservation science. Several computational algorithms have been developed understand map many studies validated their predictions using empirical data. Yet at present, there is no published comparative analysis uses comprehensive simulation framework measure accuracy performance dominant methods in connectivity modelling. Given widespread usage models spatial science, thorough evaluation predictive abilities techniques essential for guiding appropriate effective application across different contexts. In this paper, we address by individual-based movement model Pathwalker simulate scenarios generated from wide range possible behaviours complexities. With simulated data, test three major models: factorial least-cost paths, resistant kernels, Circuitscape. Our study shows latter two these consistently perform most accurately nearly all cases, with varying substantially For majority applications, infer kernels be model, except when strongly directed towards known location. Governments around the world have acknowledged that urgent action is needed to conserve and restore ecological connectivity help reverse decline of biodiversity. In this study we tested hypothesis functional for multiple species can be estimated across Canada using a single, upstream model. We developed movement cost layer with values assigned expert opinion anthropogenic land cover features natural based on their known assumed effects terrestrial, non-volant fauna. used Circuitscape conduct an omnidirectional analysis terrestrial landscapes, in which potential contribution all landscape elements were considered where source destination nodes independent tenure. Our resulting map mean current density provided seamless estimate probability at 300 m resolution Canada. predictions our variety independently collected wildlife data. found GPS data individual caribou, wolves, moose, elk traveled longer distances western significantly correlated areas high densities. Maintaining and restoring ecological connectivity is considered a global imperative to help reverse the decline of biodiversity. To be successful, practitioners need guided by modeling research that rigorous reliable for task at hand. However, methods workflows within this rapidly growing field are diverse few have been carefully scrutinized. We propose four steps should consistently undertaken in studies order improve rigour utility: 1) describe type being modeled, 2) assess uncertainty sensitivity model parameters, 3) validate outputs, ideally with independent data 4) make non‐sensitive raw code openly available enhance computational reproducibility. reviewed literature determine extent which included these steps. focused on generated novel landscape outputs using circuit theory restricted our assessment concerning terrestrial mammals. Among 181 meeting search criteria, 39% communicated 18% conducted some form or analysis (or both), attempted their only 7% used fully do so. Lastly, 13% made all available, 2% provided required two both. Our findings highlight clear opportunity reliability, reproducibility utility research. provide checklist researchers can consult include outputs. This will more informed decisions ensure limited resources conservation restoration allocated appropriately.

The accelerated urbanization process has caused problems such as habitat loss, isolation, and quality decline, resulting in a sharp reduction the richness abundance of urban species. Constructing suitable environmental conditions is most direct effective way to protect animals. In environment, construction can be achieved by integrating species protection landscape planning, which also an important manifestation biodiversity conservation at ecosystem level. Understanding how incorporate animal habitats into city plan design critical planners would benefit from review that holistically describes steps methods constructions. We conducted highlight space resources network structures. synthesized findings research studies last 20 years illuminate investigation, assessment, planning management habitats. As degradation fragmentation anthropogenic environments, our suggest should consider ecological background suitability strategies four key mitigation alleviate these impacts. This study will provide useful reference improve survival communication. Through this study, consolidated aid sustainable development innovation promote function green harmonious coexistence humans
