In this scoping review, we offer a comprehensive understanding of the current and recent epidemiology, challenges, emerging issues related to bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in WHO European Region. We endeavour collating data from both EU/EEA non- countries, thereby giving complete picture region which highlights higher notification rates Northern Western countries than other regions, likely due differences testing, access surveillance capacity. provide an up-to-date review on knowledge determinants persistent inequities key populations as well use molecular epidemiology for identifying transmission networks gonorrhoea syphilis, detecting chlamydia mutations that evade diagnosis. Finally, explore STIs evolving routes food waterborne diseases into sexual transmission. Our findings call harmonized STI systems, proactive strategies, policies address social factors, staying vigilant STIs.

Resistance to antibiotics and antimicrobial compounds is a significant problem for human animal health globally. The development introduction of new are urgently needed, copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) have found widespread application across various sectors including biomedicine, pharmacy, catalysis, cosmetics, many others. What makes them particularly attractive the possibility their synthesis through biogenic routes. In this study, we synthesized green tea (GT, Camellia sinensis)-derived CuO NPs (GT examined biophysical properties, in vitro toxicity mammalian cells culture, then tested against Neisseria gonorrhoeae, an exemplar Gram-negative bacterium from World Health Organization's Priority Pathogen List. We compared our GT CuOP with commercial (Com NPs). Com were significantly more cytotoxic (IC50 7.32 μg/mL) than 106.1 μg/mL). showed no increase bax, bcl2, il6, il1β mRNA expression cells, whereas there notable rises after treatment NPs. Abstract Background Oral emtricitabine-tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (F/TDF) for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) demonstrates dual potential through antiviral activity against hepatitis B virus (HBV). While F/TDF lacks C (HCV), the use of PrEP may elevate HCV risk compensation. This study aims to investigate HBV/HCV incidence among men who have sex with (MSM) using F/TDF-based PrEP, addressing evidence gaps in low- and middle-income countries. Methods We conducted a secondary analysis China Real-World Intake (CROPrEP) study, multicenter prospective cohort MSM (F/TDF users/non-users) from Beijing, Shenyang, Shenzhen, Chongqing. Participants underwent testing at baseline 12-month follow-up. Only HBV-susceptible (hepatitis surface antigen-negative, core antibody-negative) were included analysis, calculate HBV incidence. The emergence of drug-resistant superbugs poses a critical global health threat, necessitating innovative treatment strategies. Neisseria gonorrhoeae (Ng) causes sexually transmitted disease called gonorrhea, and the bacterium has shown alarming resistance to conventional antibiotics, underscoring urgent need for novel therapeutic approaches. In current study, we interfaced computational biology materials science investigate interactions between in-house synthesized metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) penicillin-binding protein 2 (PBP2) Ng, key target β-lactam antibiotics. Using molecular docking interaction analyses, identified three promising MOFs, namely, Fe-BDC-258445, Cu-BDC-687690, Ni-BDC-638866, with optimum binding scores stable interactions. These indicated strong PBP2, suggesting their potential as agents. Antimicrobial screening using standard disk diffusion assay demonstrated that Cu-BDC MOFs were bactericidal multiple strains whereas Ni-BDC Fe-BDC nonbactericidal. MOF did not kill other Gram-negative bacteria, thus demonstrating specificity showed low toxicity human Chang conjunctival epithelial cells in vitro. No significant leaching biological activity was observed MOF, microscopy loss gonococcal piliation damage cell membrane. findings underscore antimicrobial agents further development.
