The
Italian
coast
has
about
700
ports,
which
are
different
in
typology,
dimension,
role,
and
ownership.
Historically,
this
led
to
the
significant
fragmentation
of
governance
space
a
lack
cooperation
that
ports
cities
still
experience
today.
Among
all
small
medium-sized
(SMPs),
such
as
marinas,
touristic
harbors,
moorings,
most
affected.
Unlike
main
where
spatial
strategic
regulation
planning
fall
under
port
authority’s
responsibilities,
SMPs
combination
public
private
management
are,
therefore,
excluded
from
national
regional
larger
strategies.
Improving
SMPs’
at
level
can
drive
more
effective
sustainable
among
related
activities
(tourism
fishing
sector)
reduce
pressures
on
land–sea
interaction
(LSI).
In
filling
gaps,
article
challenges
existing
legal
framework,
tools,
approaches,
initiatives
may
pave
way
establishing
better-integrated
for
SMPs.
