Because of safety concerns associated with the use liquid electrolytes and electrolyte solutions, options for non-liquid materials like gels polymers to be used as ion-conducting have been explored intensely, they attract steadily growing interest from researchers. The low ionic conductivity most hard soft solid was initially too practical applications in supercapacitors, which require internal resistance a device and, consequently, highly conducting materials. Even if an additional separator may not needed when already ensures reliable separation electrodes, prepared films or membranes thin practically acceptable, still high even today. Recent developments gel sometimes approach surpass terms effective conductance. This includes based on biopolymers, renewable raw materials, biodegradability, better environmental compatibility. In addition, numerous approaches improving electrolyte/electrode interaction yielded improvements resistance. Reported studies are reviewed, material combinations sorted out, trends identified.
