Back ground: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a pathological condition of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by chronic and relapsing inflammation. This study investigated anti-inflammatory effects Pyrus calleryana var. fauriei extract (PCE) in vitro vivo.BR/Methods Results: Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated RAW 264.7 cells dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis mice were used to evaluate PCE. In cells, PCE inhibited nitric oxide production phagocytosis without cytotoxicity, pro-inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-α interleukin (IL)-6. Colitis was induced using 2% DSS for 5 days, administered 14 days. treatment relieved symptoms colitis, such as weight loss, diarrhea, bloody feces. Moreover, ameliorated splenomegaly colonic shortening, indicators colitis. reduced levels inflammatory cytokines, IL-6 IL-22. Histological analysis revealed that alleviated mucosal damage macrophage infiltration.BR/Conclusions: These results suggest has activity on LPS-treated ameliorates clinical DSS-induced mice. Therefore, potential therapeutic candidate IBD.
