Acne vulgaris (AV) is a common problem with relatively high incidence rate among Asian people. The potential antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties of banana peels have been demonstrated in previous studies but not studied cases AV. Therefore, this study was aimed at investigating the protective effects (Musa balbisiana) peel extract (MBPE) against AV.Thirty rats were divided into five groups (n = 6 per group): an AV group, group treated 0.15% MBPE, administered 0.30% 0.60% clindamycin (the standard drug treatment). We assessed nodule size, bacterial count, histopathology, cytokine levels (IL-1α, IFN-γ, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, IL-8). Enzyme linked immunoassays used to measure levels. In addition, we performed molecular docking determine interactions between phytochemicals (trigonelline, vanillin, ferulic acid, isovanillic rutin, salsolinol) via Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) pathways. All MBPE treatment groups, compared showed suppression both growth proinflammatory production, as well resolved tissue inflammation. size significantly suppressed receiving two highest doses group. However, pharmacological action remained inferior that clindamycin. Docking rutin phytocompound most negative interaction energy TLR2 or NF-κB.Our results indicated has AV, by suppressing formation, inhibiting growth, decreasing production.
