Abstract Viologens are important members of organic photochromic (PC) materials. However, the photochromism viologen derivatives in solutions, especially water, can be hardly detected due to restricted photo‐induced electron transfer (PET) caused by solvation counter anions and fast rapid back upon oxidation dissolved oxygen. Herein, a universal strategy is successfully developed for reversible various solvents simply adding an donor triethylamine (TEA). Upon formation charge complex, PET process smoothly occur, resulting stable radicals. The PC kinetic analysis reveals that derivative with narrower bandgap exhibits faster coloration ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation. Moreover, incorporating 1‰ eq. conjugation‐extended as photosensitizer significantly shortens coloring time conventional without affecting its bleached colored states. Based on properties derivatives, distinct patterns realized their aqueous solutions pre‐soaked erasable papers UV Overall, findings not only develop but also open new avenue information storage anticounterfeiting applications.
