A new coordination polymer (CP) with composition [Zn 3 (bpyp) 2 (TCB) (H O) ] n ( 1 ) has been engendered by performing reaction of Zn(II) 1,3,5‐ tris ‐(4‐carboxyphenyl)benzene TCB) and 2,5‐bis(pyrid‐4‐yl)pyridine under solvothermal condition. The single crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis for suggests kgd topological behavior having resemblance a tessellation composed diamond shapes arranged in star pattern represented the Schläfli symbol {4 } ·6 ·8 }. This newly designed CP exhibits optical band gap 2.92 eV employed as photocatalyst photodegradation antibiotics, namely, nitrofurazone (NFZ), chloramphenicol (CAP), sulfasalazine (SLA), oxytetracycline (OXY), furazolidone (FZD). Among these displays best photocatalytic activity against NFZ optimized conditions viz. dosage 15 mg, initial concentration 40 ppm, catalytic performance photo‐decomposed 93.04% pseudo first order rate constant k 0.04502 min −1 h. likely mechanism evaluated using theoretical calculations.
