Background: The gut microbiome directly impacts brain health and activity, meaning the two are closely associated. This relationship suggests a link between microbial imbalances diseases such as Alzheimer’s, although multiple other contributing factors, genetics, also play part. Additionally, recent studies discovered that cerebrospinal fluid has some deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), which can be interpreted to mean exists in too. vagus nerve central nervous immune systems responsible for connection microbiome. Aims Objectives: main aim of this systematic review is analyze existing research on gut–brain axis fill current knowledge gap. Materials Methods: A search was conducted PubMed database based set predefined MeSH terms. Results: After search, 2716 articles meeting parameters were found PubMed. list then downloaded analyzed according inclusion/exclusion criteria, 63 relevant papers selected. Discussion: Bacteria produce substances considered neuroactive. These compounds or indirectly affect function through axis. However, various gaps mechanisms involved need addressed first.

In recent years, depression has become a global public health concern, and one of the common concomitant symptoms are diminished sexual motivation impaired performance. The aim this study was to investigate potential effects Morinda officinalis oligosaccharides (MOO) on its symptom, dysfunction. Chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-induced model constructed, MOO abilities were evaluated. results revealed that able alleviate CUMS-induced depression-like behavior in mice, inhibit hippocampal neuron apoptosis, reverse monoamine neurotransmitter imbalance, increase Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression levels hippocampus, modulate composition distribution gut microbiota, abundance probiotics after continuous gavage for 28 days. further confirmed dysfunction is closely related development by improving lack low performance depressed modulating disruption sex hormone secretion serum, alleviating sperm morphology functional defects epididymis. These findings provide basis exploring antidepressant mechanism, use improve hypogonadotropic symptoms, future new drug improves symptoms.

Sarcopenia significantly diminishes quality of life and increases mortality risk in older adults. While the connection between gut microbiome muscle health is recognized, underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. In this study, shotgun metagenomics revealed that Bifidobacterium adolescentis notably depleted individuals with sarcopenia, correlating reduced mass function. This finding was validated aged mice. Metabolomics analysis identified nicotinic acid as a key metabolite produced by B. adolescentis, linked to improvements functionality sarcopenia. Mechanistically, restores nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) levels muscle, inhibits FoxO3/Atrogin-1/Murf-1 axis, promotes satellite cell proliferation, reducing atrophy. Additionally, NAD+ activation enhances silent-information-regulator 1 (SIRT1)/peroxisome-proliferator-activated-receptor-γ-coactivator 1-alpha (PGC-1α) stimulating mitochondrial biogenesis promoting oxidative metabolism slow-twitch fibers, ultimately improving Our findings suggest adolescentis-derived could be promising therapeutic strategy for
