Non-invasive neuromodulation techniques are widely utilized to study and improve cognitive function, with the aim of modulating different processes. For workers performing high-intensity mental physical tasks, extreme fatigue may not only affect their working efficiency but also lead decline or impairment, which, in turn, poses a serious threat health. The use non-invasive has important research value for improving enhancing function. In this paper, we review status, existing problems, future prospects transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), alternating (tACS), magnetic (TMS), transcutaneous acupoint (TAS), which most studied methods enhance cognition. findings presented paper will be great reference in-depth field

As human beings, we have always sought to expand on our abilities, including cognitive and motor skills. One of the still-underrated tools employed this end is repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS). Until recently, rTMS was almost exclusively used in studies with rehabilitation purposes. Only a small strand literature has focused application healthy people aim enhancing abilities such as decision-making, working memory, attention, source control, learning, computational speed, risk-taking, impulsive behaviors. It, therefore, seems that findings particular field are indirect results research. In review paper, set investigate evaluate effectuality terms how it improves skills subjects. Furthermore, since most common brain site for protocols dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), added Theta Burst (TBS) wave patterns similar increase effectiveness method. The study can help who high-risk jobs firefighters, surgeons, military officers their job performance.

Prefrontal cortex activity facilitates emotion regulation by cognitive reappraisal. Yet, neuroimaging studies have yielded disparate findings as to whether relatively greater left or right prefrontal is more beneficial for reappraisal success. We argue that differences in hemispheric activation during efforts may depend on the specific and diverse strategies utilized reappraise negative stimuli. In this EEG study, n = 94 participants were randomly assigned three groups instructed either generate problem-oriented reappraisals, positive reinterpretations, distancing reappraisals anger-eliciting situations while alpha asymmetry changes recorded (F3–F4, F7–F8, Fp1–Fp2). Engaging problem orientation a right-lateralized frontal pattern was linked highest success (percentage of strategy-conforming reappraisals), along with believability ratings. Conversely, engaging left-lateralized pattern, ideational fluency lowest anger ratings post-reappraisal. No distinct emerged reinterpretation; however, condition For all groups, higher capacity correlated activity. Frontal observed be function implemented strategy rather than general fluency.

Abstract Background Mood disorders are often associated with hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis dysfunction, and rumination has been implicated in delayed cortisol recovery. However, research findings on the impact of recovery have inconsistent. The moderating effects scalp prefrontal–limbic connections relationship between may explain these discrepancies. Method Acute stress was induced by a 5‐min simulated job interview. Salivary samples affective ratings were collected at seven pre‐determined time points. After interview, 35 healthy adult participants randomly assigned to either condition ( n = 17) or distraction 18). Results Inducing led increased levels, negative mood, state rumination. Compared group, group displayed decreased connectivities, that is, left ventrolateral prefrontal cortex (LVLPFC) temporal area (LTMP) [ ps < .05], right dorsolateral (RDLPFC) anterior cingulate (ACC) .05]. moderated connectivities (LDLPFC) LTMP, RDLPFC LDLPFC ACC, ACC B −0.98 −0.35, SE 0.15–0.34, Higher combined reduced predict Conclusion current suggest connectivity is neural underpinning related emotion regulation for These also provide potential target non‐invasive intervention HPA dysregulation.

Abstract Cocaine use disorder (CUD) is a difficult-to-treat condition with no FDA-approved medications. Recent work has turned to brain stimulation methods help rectify hypofrontality and dopamine reward system changes often observed in individuals CUD. Preliminary studies using transcranial magnetic (TMS) have demonstrated promising results, but there room for optimization of the site, pattern, identification relevant biomarkers TMS effects. The current pilot study aimed test feasibility, safety, preliminary effects double-blind, sham-controlled, cross-over, acute design intermittent theta burst dorsomedial prefrontal cortex (dmPFC) on electroencephalogram (EEG) as intermediate outcome assessment CUD patients. This small enrolled five moderate-to-severe feasibility proof-of-concept. Participants completed psychometric, EEG measures before after receiving two sessions active or sham dmPFC separate days. All participants all tasks found be tolerable. side were minimal consistent an design. Visible electrical activity during monetary guessing task, while psychometric observed. These results indicate safety approach suggest that viable target treating Future should expand upon these findings randomized controlled clinical trial.

Social dysfunction is common across psychiatric disorders, including depressive and anxiety disorders. Both disorders have been associated with negative biases in socioaffective neural processing, which may impact responses to social stimuli. This study aims determine whether these indeed coupled altered processing of positive valenced emotional stimuli a neurobiological correlate can be identified. An implicit faces functional magnetic resonance imaging task was used measure brain activation response participants depression (N = 46), 45), comorbid 57), healthy controls 52). indexed using five items the World Health Organisation Disability Assessment Schedule-2.0 (i.e., perceived disability) De Jong-Gierveld Loneliness scale (LON; i.e., loneliness). Higher disability scores were greater left angular gyrus sad all but did not overall (sad, angry, fearful) or (happy) faces. No interaction effect diagnosis observed for finding. Perceived loneliness Taken together, persons without and/or converges specifically on gyrus, suggesting potential dysfunction.
