Plants are a valuable source of specialized metabolites that provide plethora therapeutic applications. They natural defenses plants use to adapt and respond their changing environment. Decoding biosynthetic pathways understanding how plant (SPMs) biotic or abiotic stress will vital knowledge for biology research its application the future sustainable production many SPMs interest. Here, we focus on proteomic approaches strategies help with study plant-specialized metabolism, including the: (i) discovery key enzymes clarification pathways; (ii) interconnection both primary (providers carbon energy SPM production) (secondary) metabolism; (iii) responses stress; (iv) regulatory mechanisms direct pathways. Proteomics, as exemplified in this review by studies performed date, is powerful tool forms part omics-driven research. The proteomes analysis provides an additional unique level information, which absent from any other omics studies. Thus, integrative analysis, considered versus single moves us more closely toward closer interpretation real cellular processes.
