Antimicrobial packing showed great potential in extending the shelf life of food. However, developing a new biocomposite film with an intelligent and efficient antimicrobial performance is still desirable. Herein, Fe-MoOx encapsulated curcumin (Cur) filled chitosan-based composite (CCF films) was prepared by solvent casting method. The total color differences CCF films were less than 30%, satisfactory surface color, transparency, hydrophobicity, thermal stability also obtained. Besides, UV-light/water/oxygen barrier capability mechanical properties enhanced incorporation Cur@Fe-MoOx. Moreover, photothermal thermal-controlled release ability, which endowed CCF0.15 excellent antibacterial toward E. coli (≥99.95%) S. aureus (≥99.96%) due to synergistic effect. exhibited high cell viability 5% hemolysis even under concentration 500 μg mL–1. Based on those unique characteristics, chosen for tangerine preservation. could prolong at least 9 days compared unpacking group, tangerines maintain freshness characteristics over 24 day storage period. Such thermal-mediated proposed our work promising food packaging.

Lemon postharvest losses are mainly due to the presence of fungal diseases. Current decay strategies rely on synthetic chemical fungicides; however, consumers demanding that fruit is free any residue. The use new natural alternatives, including essential oils, emerging their potential antimicrobial activity. Therefore, aim this work elucidation effect carvacrol, eugenol, and thymol, individually in combination, applied preharvest. Three different concentrations (100, 500, 1000 µL/mL) thymol were combination ‘Fino’ ‘Verna’ lemon cultivars. incidence (mainly Penicillium digitatum P. italicum) was evaluated weekly for 35 days. Moreover, main quality parameters (weight loss, firmness, colour, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, phenolic content) lemons at harvest after days cold storage. results showed carvacrol lowest concentration (100 µL/L) provided with a non-negative during storage, while highest oils resulted opposite effect. 100 µL/L preharvest could be an eco-friendly alternative current fungicides control decay, maintaining optimal quality.
