Abstract As the main active compound of Glycyrrhiza glabra L., glabridin (GLD) has been shown to have multiple bioactivities, whereas clinical application GLD is restricted by its low water solubility. In this study, was encapsulated into a sulfobutylether‐β‐cyclodextrin (SBE‐β‐CD)‐based inclusion complex (SBE‐β‐CD/GLD) freeze‐drying method. The materials characterization, antibacterial activity, stimulated cellular behavior and in vivo full‐thickness diabetic wound healing ability hydrogels were assessed analyzed. successful encapsulation confirmed ultraviolet (UV) visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR), X‐ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). SBE‐β‐CD as an excipient significantly enhances solubility GLD, SBE‐β‐CD/GLD showed excellent biocompatibility on human vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs) erythrocytes. exerted pronounced activity Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli vitro. markedly enhanced antioxidant compared with free GLD. potently accelerates skin defects inhibiting inflammation. outcomes suggest that could be used promising drug delivery system for

Inflammation is a natural protective response of the human body to variety hostile agents and noxious stimuli. Standard anti-inflammatory therapy includes drugs whose usage associated with number side effects. Since ancient times, compounds have been used for treatment inflammation. Traditionally, use medicinal plants considered safe, inexpensive, widely acceptable. In Serbia, traditional medicine, based on strong belief in power herbs, widespread form treatment. This supported by fact that Serbia classified as one 158 world centers biodiversity, which confirms this country treasure herbs. Some most herbs inflammations various causes Serbian tradition are yarrow, common agrimony, couch grass, onion, garlic, marshmallow, birch, calendula, liquorice, walnut, St. John’s wort, chamomile, peppermint, white willow, sage, many others. The biological activity effect selected attributed different groups secondary biomolecules such flavonoids, phenolic acids, sterols, terpenoids, sesquiterpenes, tannins. paper provides an overview reference available studies examined effect. Background: Renowned since ancient times for its medical properties, liquorice is nowadays mainly used flavoring candies or soft drinks. Continuous intake of large amounts a widely known cause pseudo-hyperaldosteronism leading to hypertension and hypokalemia. These manifestations are usually mild, although in some cases may generate life-threatening complications, i.e., arrhythmias, muscle paralysis, rhabdomyolysis, coma. In addition, has an important estrogenic-like activity. Methods: We summarized the current knowledge about reviewed 104 case reports both English Italian languages from inception June 2023 concerning complications due excess intake. Results: contrast most published data, female sex old age do not appear be risk factors. However, electrolyte imbalance (mainly hypokalemia) prevalent features. The detection glycyrrhetinic acid blood very uncommon, diagnosis essentially based on accurate history taking. Conclusions: Although there significant mortality rate, toxicity often requires hospitalization therefore represents health concern. Major pharmaceutical drug regulatory authorities should solicit public awareness potentially dangerous effects caused by excessive use liquorice.

Characterization and spatial distribution studies of the metabolome in plants are crucial for revealing physiology developing functional foods. Using rhizome Glycyrrhiza uralensis as a case, we integrated desorption electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry imaging (DESI-MSI) high-resolution liquid chromatography/mass approaches aimed at characterizing locating both small molecules macromolecular polysaccharides. Under optimal conditions, 21 flavonoids 12 triterpenoids were detected characterized different tissues another 19 components exclusively by DESI-MSI. Combined with hydrophilic interaction chromatography/ion mobility-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry, eight degrees polymerization oligosaccharides (after situ acid hydrolysis) from G. uralensis. Majority these metabolites located cortex, phloem, medulla, which lays foundation understanding The useful information can benefit sustainable utilization further development resource.

The results showed that polysaccharide content, extract yield, reduced sugar content leaf increased significantly after 36 h fermentation. In parallel, assays demonstrated for exhibited strong DPPH, hydroxyl radical scavenging, reducing power. Scanning electron microscope infrared spectroscopy analyses revealed differences surface morphology with both polysaccharides being acidic containing pyranose rings α-glycosidic bonds. molecular weight FGLP was lower than GLP, molar ratios guluronic acid, amino glucose, glucuronic xylose, arabinose were increased. model, promoted growth development embryos, most pronounced effect at a concentration 20 µg/mL superior protective against lipid peroxidation cell death induced by 2,2′-azobis (2-methylpropionamidine) dihydrochloride. findings could enhance utilization capacity.
