Aims: We used reports ( n = 208) of drug-free friendships and alcohol drug use by people diagnosed with substance disorder in order to investigate their annual change trajectories across 4 years after treatment the association between these debut age gender. Methods: The participants were recruited from Stavanger region, Norway. Using cross-sectional analysis, we first examined relationship “alcohol use” “drug-free friendships” five follow-ups. tested whether associations significant using chisquare chi-squared tests. Second, developed three latent growth curve models examining friendships”. Results: Our analysis displays a stable pattern Only fourth follow-up was there lower having (χ 2 18.27, df 8, p < .05). In model 1, found no gender, age, use; had variance on intercept but not slope; 3 good fit 44.33, 39, comparative index 0.98, root mean square error approximation 0.027). However, did find any regression path slopes. Conclusions: Drug-free relationships studied cohort group have little influence reducing use, while gender unrelated years. suggest that future research should focus frequency quality participants’ friendship assessments because previous has such facilitate recovery.

Uncontrolled drug and substance use (DSU) may pose unprecedented threats to nation building a country’s socioeconomic development. Despite considerable efforts made resources used address DSU concerns, Malaysia has seen significant annual rise in cases of DSU. The bulk the reported originate from youth between ages 15 40 years. To date, data related have been entirely dependent on operation statistics, arrest counts, cases; therefore be under-reported obtained not representative at national level. This study aims determine prevalence among Malaysian through large nationwide survey. Of population 11,129,316 aged 15–40 years, lifetime users was found 5.5%, while for those who had taken drugs past 30 days or currently them, 3.5%. most popular were kratom Mitragyna speciosa, current cannabis. reports magnitude problem country-wide level, which is crucial preliminary effort crafting evidence-based well-informed policies.

Abstract Nicotine and alcohol addiction are leading causes of preventable death worldwide continue to constitute a huge socio‐economic burden. Both nicotine perturb the brain's mesocorticolimbic system. Dopamine ( DA ) neurons projecting from ventral tegmental area VTA multiple downstream structures, including nucleus accumbens, prefrontal cortex, amygdala, highly involved in maintenance healthy brain function. play crucial role associative learning reinforcement. usurp these functions, promoting reinforcement drug taking behaviors. In this review, we will first describe how individually affect by examining exposure alters heterogeneous microcircuit network‐wide projections. We also examine coadministration or previous may augment reinforcing effects other. Additionally, review briefly summarizes nicotine, alcohol, their synergistic addresses remaining questions related circuit‐function specificity dopaminergic system mediating nicotine/alcohol comorbidity.

Abstract Objective Determine whether women and men differ in volunteering to join a Research Recruitment Registry when invited participate via an electronic patient portal without human bias. Materials Methods Under-representation of other demographic groups clinical research studies could be due either invitation bias (explicit or implicit) during screening recruitment by lower rates deciding offered. By making available all patients accessing our portal, regardless demographics, we sought remove implicit offering participation thus independently assess agreement rates. Results Women were represented the slightly more than their proportion users (n = 194 775). Controlling for age, race, ethnicity, use, chronic disease burden, questionnaire statistically likely agree (odds ratio 1.17, 95% CI, 1.12–1.21). In contrast, Black males, Hispanics (of both sexes), particularly Asians (both sexes) had low participation-to-population ratios; this under-representation persisted multivariable regression model. Discussion This supports view that historical is due, at least part, participation. Distinguishing mechanism help designing strategies improve study representation, leading effective evidence-based recommendations. Conclusion Patient portals offer attractive option minimizing encouraging broader, representative research.
