The chemical composition and taste quality of tea fluctuate seasonally. However, the compounds responsible for seasonal variation metabolic pattern are far from clear. This study compared metabolite profiles green teas nine varieties that were plucked in spring, summer, autumn by using ultraperformance liquid chromatography–quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS) on a reversed phase column. A multivariate analysis indicated distinct differences among phenotypes harvested different seasons. Heat-map pathway demonstrated flavan-3-ols, theasinensins, procyanidins, quercetin-O-glycosides, apigenin-C-glycosides, amino acids exhibited sharp fluctuations. An equivalent quantification tastes showed summer teas, bitterness astringency significantly elevated, whereas umami declined. Metabolite content comparisons partial least-squares suggested several flavonoids mainly variations quality.

Several herb species classified as oregano have been widely used in folk medicine to alleviate inflammation-related diseases, respiratory and digestive disorders, headaches, rheumatism, diabetes others. These potential health benefits are partially attributed the phytochemical compounds such flavonoids (FL) phenolic acids (PA). Flavonoids among most abundant studied phytochemicals species. Epidemiological, vitro vivo experiments related long-term consumption of dietary FL PA with a decreased risk incidence chronic diseases. The aim this manuscript is summarize latest studies on identification distribution from their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory anti-cancer benefits.

Condensed tannins (CTs) account for up to 20% of the dry matter in forage legumes used as ruminant feeds. Beneficial animal responses CTs have included improved growth, milk and wool production, fertility, reduced methane emissions ammonia volatilization from dung or urine. Most important is ability such forages combat effects gastrointestinal parasitic nematodes. Inconsistent were initially attributed concentration diet, but recent research has highlighted importance their molecular structures, well concentration, also composition diet containing CTs. The CT structural traits cannot be underestimated. Interdisciplinary key unraveling relationships between bioactivities will enable future on‐farm exploitation these natural plant compounds. Research needed provide breeders with guidelines screening tools optimize traits, both whole diet. In addition, improvements are competitiveness agronomic CT‐containing our understanding options inclusion diets. Farmers need varieties that competitive mixed swards predictable bioactivities. This review covers results multidisciplinary on sainfoin ( Onobrychis Mill. spp.) provides an overview current developments several other tanniniferous forages. There is no argument to the fact that insect herbivores cause significant losses plant productivity in both natural and agricultural ecosystems. To counter this continuous onslaught, plants have evolved a suite of direct indirect, constitutive induced, chemical physical defenses, secondary metabolites are key group facilitates these defenses. Polyphenols-widely distributed flowering plants-are major such biologically active metabolites. Recent advances analytical chemistry metabolomics provided an opportunity dig deep into extraction quantification plant-based products with insecticidal/insect deterrent activity, potential sustainable pest management strategy. However, we currently lack updated review their multifunctional roles insect-plant interactions, especially focusing on or antifeedant properties. This focuses role polyphenols plant-insect interactions defenses including structure, induction, regulation, anti-feeding toxicity effects. Details mechanisms underlying localization compounds discussed context current findings, avenues for future research area.
