Amongst fruits and vegetables, strawberries (Fragaria × ananassa) are one of the most perishable products. Consequently, it is challenging to maintain their quality until they reach consumer. Therefore, keeping optimal hygrothermal conditions around berries from farm consumer crucial preserving them avoiding food loss. Using ventilated packaging design an established way address this technological, economic, environmental problem. Until now, strawberry often designed using a trial-and-error approach, multitude designs exist. Ideally, should be in such that provides best preservation fruit all retailer. This since change significantly along supply chain. In study, we use physics-based modeling evaluate new regard cooling performance, risk condensation, mass loss, respiration-driven shelf life assess performance whole post-harvest export chain Spain Switzerland. Twelve for with existing newly-designed vent hole configurations were investigated. Simulations quantified how physiologically hygrothermally evolve inside these packages Implementing appropriate ventilation open-and top-sealed trays can help minimize losses As commonly known, cool faster better-ventilated than unventilated trays, condensation-based time wetness could reduced by 45% adding additional holes tray. The height secondary packaging, total opening area (TOA), size, placement vents have substantial influence on packaging. We recommend TOA between 5.5% 7% diameter 5 12 mm. Also, evenly distributed. However, there always trade-off design: condensation comes higher loss strawberries. Strawberry models enabled unique insight into evolution visualized spatial distribution package.

Purpose: Simulation-based digital twins represent an effort to provide high-accuracy real-time insights into operational physical processes. However, the computation time of many multi-physical simulation models is far from real-time. It might even exceed sensible frames produce sufficient data for training data-driven reduced-order models. This study presents TwinLab, a framework data-efficient, yet accurate neural-ODE type with only two sets. Design/methodology/approach: Correlations between test errors and distinct features corresponding are investigated. Having found single best sets training, second set sought help similarity error measures enrich process effectively. Findings: Adding suitable in reduces by up 49% compared base model trained one set. Such should at least yield good on its own exhibit higher levels dissimilarity regarding respective excitation signal. Moreover, have elevated The relative series ranges 0.18% 0.49%. Biodegradable edible coatings have become a viable alternative for preserving fruits such as strawberries with high degree of perishability, extending their postharvest shelf life. The study aimed to develop biodegradable coating based on cassava starch and poly(vinyl alcohol) extend the life at 25 ± 5 °C, since no formulations or studies were found this storage temperature. formation composite was confirmed by signals in FTIR spectra. results demonstrate that presence soybean oil lecithin promotes rearrangement polymer bonds, ensuring availability hydroxyls. Thus, formulation B obtained hydrophobic surface, justified lower moisture content, water solubility, vapor permeability. new material applied fresh strawberries, delaying senescence process °C 105% compared control sample.
