Objective: To evaluate the hypothesis that social problem solving (SPS) moderates strong emotion reactivity (ER) to stressful events in predicting suicide ideation (SI). Participants: 200 college students: mean age = 20.33; 75% women; 58% white. Methods: Participants completed following self-report inventories: Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation, Emotion Reactivity Scale, and Social Problem-Solving Inventory-Revised. Results: Regression slope analyses found SPS moderate association between ER SI. Specifically, (a) as increased, SI increased significantly less average solvers compared ineffective solvers, (b) only slightly effective increased. A secondary exploratory analysis 20 students who previously attempted reported more negative ER, SPS, higher SI, a group of sex-and age-matched peers. Conclusions: Effective serves decrease likelihood will experience levels even when their is high. Clinical implications treatment prevention are discussed.

Importance The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the normal course of cancer screening and detection in US. A nationwide analysis extent this disruption using registry data has not been conducted. Objective To assess observed expected rate trends for March through December 2020 from all 50 US states District Columbia. Design, Settings, Participants This was a population-based cross-sectional incidence on cases invasive diagnosis reported to Cancer Statistics January 1, 2018, 31, 2020. Data analyses were performed July 6 28, 2023. Exposure(s) Age, sex, race, urbanicity, state-level response at time diagnosis. Main Outcomes Measures Used time-series forecasting methods calculate rates 1 2020, prepandemic (January 2018-February 2020). Measured relative difference between numbers potentially missed cases. Results study included 297 874 with an age-adjusted 326.5 per 100 000 population. Of cases, 657 743 (50.7%) occurred male patients, 757 106 (58.3%) persons 65 years or older, 066 566 (82.2%) White individuals. Observed all-sites 28.6% (95% prediction interval [PI], 25.4%-31.7%) lower than during height (March-May 2020); 6.3% PI, 3.8%-8.8%) June 2020; overall, 13.0% 11.2%-14.9%) first 10 months pandemic. These differences indicate that there 134 395 112 544-156 680) undiagnosed cancers frame. Prostate accounted largest number (22 950), followed by female breast (16 870) lung 333) cancers. Screenable saw total reduction 13.9% 12.2%-15.6%) compared rate. showed evidence recovery previous after 3 pandemic, but levels remained low colorectal, cervical, From May more restrictive responses had significantly greater disruptions, yet these nonsignificant sites except lung, kidney, pancreatic cancer. Background and Objectives: In recent years, there has been a notable increase in university students experiencing severe mental illness. The transition to life can be demanding, leading health disorders. Persistent stress anxiety cause demotivation, difficulties with concentration, cognitive impairment, reduced academic performance. Mental issues also impact social relationships overall well-being. This cross-sectional study aims investigate the of medical compare it non-student population. Materials Methods: survey collected demographic information such as age gender. Participants were questioned about their self-perceived distress, diagnosed disorders, history therapy for distress. Various validated assessment tools utilized assess quality life. Results: Medical exhibit higher self-perception symptoms that does not translate into significantly prevalence experience levels subclinical depressive lower Female participants reported QoL scores compared male participants. While disorders did differ between genders (except clinical anxiety), females tended perceive burden challenges. Conclusions: By addressing among students, especially females, institutions create more supportive conducive learning environment. Encouraging open conversations providing accessible services help destigmatizing challenges promoting early intervention when needed.

Objective: This study explores rates and correlates of NSSI suicidality women college athletes, taking into consideration sport competition level (i.e., intramural, club, varsity). Participants: Data were drawn from self-identified athletes (n = 8,842) who participated in the Healthy Minds Study. Methods: Mental health assessed with logistic regression. Results: Approximately 19%–24% athlete sample reported past-year engagement NSSI; 8%–10% suicidal ideation; 3%–4% planning; 0.8%–1% attempted suicide. Rates ideation relatively higher for club sports athletes. Clinical mental concerns, substance use positive health, interpersonal concerns suicidality, variations observed across level. Background Substantial evidence indicates that the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected population mental health globally. However, most studies assumed a linear relationship where only negative pandemic-induced changes led to worse outcomes, overlooking complex between COVID-19-related and health. This study examined how various types magnitudes of pandemic-related relate depression suicidal thoughts in large, nationwide adult sample. Methods We analyzed data from 2021 Korean Community Health Survey, cross-sectional survey 229,213 adults. The association outcomes three changes: daily life impact (scored 0–100), economic activities (employment income changes), behaviors (physical activity, instant food consumption, alcohol smoking). Complex sample multiple logistic regression analysis was used assess these associations, adjusting for sociodemographic factors. Results showed non-linear patterns. Compared those reporting moderate changes, individuals either no change (depression: aOR 1.253, 95% CI 1.135–1.384; thoughts: 1.355, 1.236–1.486) or complete disruption 1.895, 1.667–2.155; 1.788, 1.558–2.052) higher risks poor Unexpectedly, positive such as improved working conditions (suicidal 1.419, 1.200–1.677) increased 1.304, 1.139–1.493; 1.244, 1.079–1.435) were also associated with adverse outcomes. Conclusions reveals both minimal substantial life, well behaviors, during pandemic. These findings suggest need comprehensive interventions consider crisis situations.

Finally, analysis an adjusted odds ratio with 95% confidence interval. It found that 5.4%of experienced ideations higher women than men. Those who graduated college or higher, income more 2 million won, lived rural areas lower levels those did not. also influenced by smoking, physical activity subjects. When variables examined, group believed they at high infection 0.68 times Also, severe economic loss due 1.89 likely have others not suffered such losses. results this suggest are socioeconomic behavioral COVID-19. These can be as basic when developing youth promotion programs.

Abstract Background Most studies on the impact of COVID-19 pandemic depression burden focused earlier phase specific to lockdowns, but longer-term is less well-studied. In this population-based cohort study, we examined short-term and long-term impacts incidence healthcare service use among patients with depression. Methods Using territory-wide electronic medical records in Hong Kong, identified all aged ≥ 10 years new diagnoses from 2014 2022. We performed an interrupted time-series (ITS) analysis examine changes medically attended before during pandemic. then divided into nine cohorts based year studied their initial ongoing patterns until end applied generalized linear modeling compare rates diagnosis between newly diagnosed A separate ITS explored prevalent Results found immediate increase (RR = 1.21, 95% CI: 1.10–1.33, p < 0.001) population after began non-significant slope change, suggesting a sustained effect Subgroup showed that increases were significant adults older population, not adolescents. Depression used 11% fewer resources than pre-pandemic first year. Pre-existing also had decrease 16% overall all-cause since pandemic, positive change indicating gradual rebound over 3-year period. Conclusions During provision for was suboptimal face increased demand generated by increasing Our findings indicate need improve mental health resource planning preparedness future public crises.
