Anaerobic digestion is an important means to turn agricultural waste into resources and way address the challenges in treating vegetable residues China. In this study, co-digestion of dairy manure with tomato residue was investigated clarify effect total solids (TS) substrate on methane’s production mechanism using self-made anaerobic device. The results showed that all treatments could rapidly ferment methane daily a trend increasing first then decreasing. optimal concentrations for liquid (L-AD), hemi-solid-state (HSS-AD), solid-state (SS-AD) were 10%, 18%, 25%, respectively. Compared SS-AD HSS-AD, L-AD gas peaked 3–6 days earlier. Treatment TS25 had best cumulative production, reaching 117.4 mL/g VS. However, treatment TS6 acid accumulation very unstable system. higher than HSS-AD L-AD. Firmicutes Bacteroidetes dominant flora, Methanoculleus, Methanosarcina, Methanobrevibacter main archaeal groups. TS significantly changed microbial community composition system, especially low treatment. presented herein indicated bacterial thus increase from 6% yield increased.

Biogas upgrading via biomethanation has been extensively studied recently, but the influence of organic loading rate on process performance remains to be fully understood. This is particularly significant because both and hydrogen injection can lead volatile fatty acid accumulation during anaerobic digestion. study investigated impact a wide range rates (from 1.25 3.25 g VS/L/d) consumption rates, accumulation, microbial communities in situ biomethanation. It also provided kinetics data metabolite production for different control reactors, including digestion, ex biomethanation, endogenous reactors. Hydrogen was injected into parallel batch reactors using digestate from semi-continuous lab-scale reactor subjected increasing (1.25–3.25 as an inoculum. The inoculum well adapted each tested rate. experiments were replicated following 12 h starvation period assess stability rates. High values resulted increased peaking at 68 mg COD/L/h VS/L/d (maximum value tested), with no despite high partial pressures. maintained after period. Furthermore, addition substrate did not (i.e., similar). A higher relative abundances hydrogenotrophic methanogens Methanospirillum sp.). highlights that accelerate consequently reducing capital operational costs.
