The Paris Agreement has united the global nations to embark on pathways decarbonization of their respective economies. However, objective achieving low-carbon growth is not as straightforward it seems since rapidly emerging and fossil fuel-dependent world economies are focused expediting economic at expense poorer environmental consequences. Against this background, study aims explore combined effects composite risk index (CRI), green innovation (GINOV), policy stringency (EP) carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in context BRICS countries while controlling for (GDP) renewable energy research development (RERD) over period from 1960 2020. uses second-generation cross-sectionally augmented autoregressive distributed lags (CS-ARDL) framework testing long- short-run models addressing issues cross-sectional dependency slope heterogeneity data set utilized analysis. associated findings reveal cointegrating associations between variables. Besides, regression outcomes show that EP, GINOV, RERD help reduce CO2 long run. CRI GDP intensify emissions. Accordingly, considering these key findings, recommended policies be tightened, R&D expenditures promoted, political stability institutional quality maintained, clean strategies adopted enable sectoral risks, create a sustainable environment, decarbonize
