Sulfated metal-incorporated MCM-48 mesoporous silicates were synthesized hydrothermally using tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as the silica precursor and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) structure-directing agent. The materials extensively characterized through techniques, such powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), N2 adsorption-desorption, diffuse reflectance UV-vis spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), NH3-temperature-programmed desorption (NH3-TPD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive (EDX), inductively coupled plasma optical emission (ICP-OES). PXRD confirmed retention of well-ordered structure in modified materials, while DRS revealed partial incorporation metal ions their preferred tetrahedral coordination within framework. Mesoporosity was verified adsorption-desorption isotherms, NH3-TPD results showed enhanced acidity sulfated catalysts. Catalytic performance tested esterification benzyl alcohol acetic acid under liquid-phase conditions. optimized reaction parameters, a 9% (w/w) S-Fe-MCM-48 catalyst, to molar ratio 2:1, temperature 60 °C, solvent-free system over 6 h, yielded acetate 98.9% selectivity major product. Reusability tests demonstrated robustness catalyst five successive cycles, indicating its potential suitability for industrial applications.
