Studies on solar electric vehicles (EVs) have focused calculating the power generation in a specific environment without discussing its practical utility. To expand awareness of utility EVs, their potential should be evaluated by considering operation methods users. This study investigated photovoltaic (PV) an EV integrated with PV modules while driving expressway. Tunnel and shadow areas were identified to determine unpowered The PVWatts model was used evaluate time year. For single vehicle traveling at 60 km/h Donghae expressway section during both summer winter solstices, amount is within 0.208–0.317 kWh, corresponding 0.94–1.43% electricity consumed for driving. Furthermore, this assumed that office workers commute Under scenario (traveling from work parking work) shading ratio, rechargeable more than 10% consumption. results showed roofs are charging supplements batteries. can provide efficacy optimal method EVs commuters.

The global transition towards electromobility presents unique challenges, particularly in regions with limited infrastructure. In Northern Chile, the sparse distribution of charging stations, distances often exceeding 100 km, complicates widespread adoption electric vehicles (EVs). This study investigates feasibility enhancing autonomy "Takai Urban", a solar-assisted battery EV through integration Zebra IBC solar cells, leveraging region's high irradiance. Initially, Takai urban had maximum range 70 km per charge. Through virtual modelling and simulations, which incorporated GPS meteorological data along typical 43.3 route Antofagasta city, we examined impact on vehicle performance. simulations indicated that strategic placement high-efficiency vehicle's could be extended by approximately 48%, achieving new 104 approach not only demonstrates potential for EVs like Chile but also underscores broader implications sustainable mobility similar environments globally. results highlight practical enhancements designs using technologies, focusing efficiency improvements solutions.
