Microplastics (MPs) are emerging pollutants that constitutes a very serious environmental nuisance and menace to the globe in last decade. The damages from MPs include ecological imbalance of marine environment, flora, fauna these yet be understood African environment. sustainable development goals 14 15 (SDGs #14 #15) seek address challenges combating sustainability terrestrial lives respectively. Understanding pollution dynamics environment is crucial globally particular Africa soon. Hence, it imperative arrest this challenge as swiftly possible before collapse entire biomes. have been detected several matrices; soil, air, aquatic environments, plants, fishes, animals, humans. Their different source routes: ingestion, inhalation, dermal contact contribute an adverse effect (toxicity) all spheres life. To humans, limits their movement, leads shedding scales, inhibits growth, suppresses immune system, causes inflammation, coagulation, also blood cell toxicity among others, on long-run mortality was noted review. There physical, chemical biological transformation microplastics age, leading toxicity, mobility, great interaction. This has contributed high MP intake by fish other animals. For reason, researchers should delve into simpler cheaper ways analyzing its presence develop remediation strategies curb

Microplastics (MPs) possess a strong capacity to adsorb and biodegrade slowly, resulting in substantial harm the environment potential health risks. In recent years, flourishing study of MPs has led valuable advancements. This review article presents comprehensive bibliometric analysis global microplastic pollution, providing deep understanding published data, current progress, research trends, focal points. We conducted extensive searches Scopus Web Science Core Collection databases from 2012 2021, utilizing widely used R software for analysis. Our findings demonstrate significant increase micro(nano)plastic publications, with growth rate 73.0% 2021. China emerges as predominant contributor this field. The journal Total Environment highest proportion relevant articles (16.1%) received most citations (9801). further emphasizes polymer products key areas past decade. serves fundamental basis future investigations into pollution's impacts on terrestrial aquatic ecosystems.

Marine microplastic pollution just as ocean acidification and greenhouse effect has attracted much environmental concern become a hot research subject for marine researchers globally. The abundances, distribution, characteristics of microplastics in surface seawater sediments from Dapeng Cove were investigated this study. results indicated that the abundance was 1333 ± 773 items/m 3 1381 1021 items/kg sediments, showing medium level compared with other sea areas. Fibers prevailing shapes both representing 65.4% 52.1% total numbers, respectively. Moreover, small (<1mm) accounted 69.6% 62.2%, According to identification by Fourier Transform Infrared microscope (micro-FTIR), main composition polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP). It is necessary enhance regulation current plastic products used aquaculture, reduce production release during mariculture process, develop alternatives fishing gear. study suggested long-term development had caused accumulation large amount water Cove. We constructed first basic data about This will serve reference further studies distribution migration zones.
