The perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAAs) have received growing attention in recent years as emerging contaminants the aquatic environment. occurrence, removal and bioaccumulation of fourteen PFAAs (C4–C14 carboxylate; C4, C6, C8 sulfonates) were investigated Lake Chaohu, China. concentrations selected inflowing river, lake water sewage treatment plant (STP) samples analyzed by ultra performance liquid chromatograph (UPLC–MS/MS). results showed that perfluorohexanesulfonic acid (PFHxS), perfluorobutane sulfonate (PFBS), perfluorobutyric (PFBA) perfluoropentanoic (PFPeA), instead perfluorooctanoic (PFOA), predominant river with maximum ranges 52.2–1866 27–236 ng L−1, respectively. highest total detected western rivers. effluents from seven STPs likely important sources surface water, amount daily fluxes effluent 132 g for short-chain 109 long-chain PFAAs. widely Chinese icefish (Neosalanx tangkahkeii taihuensis) collected maximal ranging 1.79 g−1 to 50.9 g−1. logarithmic factors perfluorodecanoic (PFDA, 3.5), perfluorooctane (PFOS, 3.35) perfluorononanoic (PFNA, 3.31) indicated these This study is useful enhancing our understanding pollution profiles their environmental health risk freshwater lake.
