The recent outbreak of a new Coronavirus has developed into global pandemic with about 10.5 million reported cases and over 500,000 deaths worldwide. Our prospective paper reports an updated analysis the impact that this had on Italian agri-food sector during national lockdown discusses why how unprecedented economic crisis could be turning point to deal overall sustainability food agricultural systems in frame forthcoming European Green Deal. Its introductory part includes wide-ranging examination first quarter emergency, specific focus primary production, understood as agriculture (i.e., crops livestock, their products), fisheries, forestry. effect typical wine exports, local environment tourism segments is also taken account analysis, because old deep roots cultural historical heritage country. subsequent centered strategic lines research networks for efficient socio-economic territorial restart, faster transition circular bio-economy. Particular emphasis given urgent need investments development concerning agriculture, terms not only fruitful penetration agro-tech next-generation era, but deeper attention natural environmental resources, including As rest Europe, Italy demands actions expand knowledge strengthen applied technology transfer innovation activities aimed at providing solutions climate neutral resilient society, reference production ensure security nutrition quality. expectation science culture return play central role main actors are capable making pivotal contribution renew restart whole industry, addressing social issues, so accelerating sustainability.

Agricultural soil contamination in seasonally frozen land threatens food security. It is necessary to investigate the effects of freeze-thaw cycles on heavy metal bioavailability so as select suitable immobilization agents. In this study, was collected from a mid-latitude agricultural site Liaoning Province, China, which spiked with cadmium (Cd2+) and lead (Pb2+). Four treatments were set up, including (i) corn stover biochar, (ii) organic fertilizer, (iii) combined biochar (iv) control group. The immobilized soils subjected 16 temperatures −10 °C, −20 −30 °C. found that cycling increased labile (Cd) (Pb) content (i.e., exchangeable). fertilizer treatment performed best short-term immobilization, demonstrated by amount diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) extractable being 17.3–53.3% lower than other treatments, 7.2–31.5% for (Cd). Biochar, hand, displayed better long-term performance under cycling. This probably because biochar's carbon relatively stable, therefore, releases little dissolved (DOC) could re-mobilize metals. Furthermore, additional sorption sites are formed abundance oxygen-containing functional groups when breaks down during cycles. Overall, joint application had greatest effect, inhibited cracking aggregates, reduced content, both short- effectiveness. suggested may offer an effective strategy sustainable management contaminated land.

The aim of this paper is to provide an overview the interrelationship between data science and climate studies, as well describes how sustainability issues can be managed using Big Data tools. Climate-related articles are analyzed categorized, which revealed increasing number applications data-driven solutions in specific areas, however, broad integrative analyses gaining less a focus. Our major objective highlight potential System Systems (SoS) theorem, synergies diverse disciplines research ideas must explored gain comprehensive issue. systems enables large amount heterogeneous integrated simulation models developed, while considering socio-environmental interrelations parallel. improved knowledge integration offered by thinking or computing has been demonstrated analysing possible inter-linkages latest application papers. analysis highlights focusing on areas bridged study complex problems change.

With the implementation of Internet Things, agricultural domain has become data-driven, allowing for well-timed and cost-effective farm management while remaining environmentally sustainable. Thus, incorporation Things in is need hour developing countries whose gross domestic product primarily depends on farming sector. It worth highlighting that nations lack infrastructure precision agriculture; therefore, it necessary to come up with a methodological paradigm which can accommodate complete model connect ground sensors compute nodes way by keeping data processing limitations constraints consideration. In this regard, review puts forward an overview state-of-the-art technologies deployed agriculture soil assessment pollutant monitoring respect heavy metal using various sensors. Secondly, manuscript illustrates generated from optimized method derived cloud computing been shown, called edge computing. addition this, new high-performance-based also shown efficient offloading smooth workflow optimization. nutshell, aims open corridor sector tackling challenges providing substantial
