The mantle plays important role in the mechanism of oyster protection caused by environmental pollutants. This study aims to analyze effect water accommodated fraction crude oil on Slipper-Shaped Oyster (Crassostrea iredalei) at different doses and time exposure. ventral posterior segments were fixed, tissue sections stained with hematoxylin-eosin, PAS-Periodic acid–Schiff, TEM-transmission electron microscopy techniques. HE-hematoxylin eosin, PAS-alcian, used characterize mucosubstances describe ultrastructure-related response a certain part after tissues epithelium, connective tissue, mucus cells, pigmented numerous hemolymph sinuses, shell formation, blood sinus recognized under light microscope. mucous cell was excreted all concentrations (control, 12.5, 25, 50, 100% Water Acomodate Fraction) also exposure (24, 48, 72, 96 hours). A large number cells produced inner cavity (IMC) outer (OMC). Mucous increased increasing WAF concentration as well length time. highest observed Accommodate Fraction (WAF) hours structure function mantle, edge cell, muscle bundles, nerve fibers, epithelium layer documented this study.

Natural and anthropogenic environmental impacts can introduce contaminants into sensitive habitats, threatening ecosystems human health. Consistent monitoring of coastal areas provides critical assessment data. Sediments Eastern Oyster (Crassostrea virginica) tissues were collected at fourteen South Carolina (SC) four North (NC) sites as part the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration's Mussel Watch program. Cellular molecular techniques employed to measure C. virginica stress response, specifically, Lipid Peroxidation (LPx), Glutathione (GSH), qPCR techniques. Gene specific primers targeted for detecting oxidative cellular death developed in gauge response current conditions using gill hepatopancreas (HP) tissue. In order validate gene markers additional tools, a 96 h zinc (Zn) laboratory exposure was performed. biomarker data revealed tissue responses. Hepatopancreas showed exhibited through lipid peroxidation assay amongst sampling sites, however, managed glutathione detoxification. Gill had significantly lower levels compared hepatopancreas. Molecular biomarkers targeting these pathways analysis show upregulation Metallothionein with concurrent > 2-fold detoxification marker Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) three NC sites. SC displayed higher LPx assays down-regulation GPx activity. Laboratory no significance results, gills responding treatment Metallothionein, SOD Cathepsin L, indicating an acute gills. Collectively, chemical, methods clarify sentinel biological aid evaluating health ecosystems. This combined methodological approach detailed improves land-use management decisions.
