Abstract Human existence and societal growth are both dependent on the availability of clean fresh water. Photocatalysis is a type artificial photosynthesis that uses environmentally friendly, long-lasting materials to address energy environmental issues. There currently considerable demand for low-cost, high-performance wastewater treatment equipment. By changing structure, size, characteristics nanomaterials, use nanotechnology in field water filtration has evolved dramatically. Semiconductor-assisted photocatalysis recently advanced become among most promising techniques fields sustainable generation ecological cleanup. It beneficial, cost-effective, strictly linked zero waste discharge principle used industrial effluent treatment. Owing reduction or removal created unwanted byproducts, green synthesis photoactive nanomaterial more beneficial than chemical approaches. Furthermore, unlike methods, method does not require expensive, dangerous, poisonous ingredients, making it less costly, easy, photocatalyst synthesis. This work focuses distinct greener utilized production new photocatalysts, including metals, metal doped-metal oxides, plasmonic nanostructures, application intelligence machine learning design selection an innovative context challenges. A brief overview applications photocatalysts also presented. Finally, recommendations future research given create photocatalytic systems with greatly improved stability efficiency.

Semiconductor-based photocatalytic reactions are a practical class of advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) to address energy scarcity and environmental pollution. By utilizing solar as clean, abundant, renewable source, this process offers numerous advantages, including high efficiency, eco-friendliness, low cost. In review, we present several methods construct various photocatalyst systems with excellent visible light absorption efficient charge carrier separation ability through the optimization materials design reaction conditions. Then it introduces fundamentals photocatalysis in both clean generation remediation. other parts, introduce approaches enhance activity by applying different strategies, semiconductor structure modification (e.g., morphology regulation, co-catalysts decoration, doping, defect engineering, surface sensitization, heterojunction construction) tuning optimizing conditions (such concentration, initial contaminant pH, temperature, intensity, charge-carrier scavengers). Then, comparative study on performance recently examined photocatalysts applied production remediation will be discussed. To realize these goals, H2 via water splitting, CO2 reduction value-added products, dye, drug photodegradation lessen toxic chemicals, presented. Subsequently, report dual-functional for simultaneous pollutant reactions. brief discussion about industrial economical applications is described. The follows introducing application artificial intelligence machine learning selection an innovative issues. Finally, summary future research directions toward developing significantly improved efficiency stability provided.

Plastic production and its unplanned management disposal, has been shown to pollute terrestrial, aquatic, atmospheric environments. Petroleum-derived plastics do not decompose tend persist in the surrounding environment for longer time. Plastics can be ingested accumulate into tissues of both terrestrial aquatic animals, which impede their growth development. Petrochemicals are primary feedstocks manufacture plastics. The plastic wastes retrieved back conversion value added petrochemicals including aromatic char, hydrogen, synthesis gas, bio-crude oil using various technologies thermochemical, catalytic chemolysis. This review focusses on technologies, opportunities, challenges outlooks retrieving petrochemicals. also explores technical approaches regard commercial feasibility, economic environmental sustainability. Further, this work provides a detailed discussion opportunities associated with recent thermochemical adopted waste fuels chemicals. recommends prospects future research improve processes cost-efficiency promising It is envisioned that would overcomes knowledge gaps further contribute emerging sustainable exploiting value-added products.

Water crisis around the world leads to a growing interest in emerging contaminants (ECs) that can affect human health and environment. Research showed thousands of compounds from domestic consumers, such as endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs), personal care products (PCPs), pharmaceuticals active (PhAcs), could be found wastewater concentration mostly ng L−1 μg L−1. However, generally, treatment plants (WWTPs) are not designed remove these ECs their discharge levels. Scientists looking for economically feasible biotreatment options enabling complete removal before discharge. Microalgae cultivation is likely approach removing simultaneously any residual organic nutrients. Microalgal growth rate efficiency affected by various factors, including light intensity, CO2 addition, presence different nutrients, etc., parameters greatly help make microalgae more efficient. Furthermore, algal biomass harvests repurposed produce bulk sustainable aviation fuel, biofuel, bioplastic, biochar; this significantly enhance economic viability. Therefore, review summarizes microalgae-based bioprocess mechanisms wastewaters highlights strategies improve efficiency. shows role profile relevance using ECs-treated green products, well challenges future research recommendations.
