A steep rise in global plastic production and significant discharge of waste are expected the near future. Plastics pose a threat to ecosystem human health through generation particulate plastics that act as carriers for other emerging contaminants, release toxic chemical additives. Since additives not covalently bound, they can freely leach into environment. Due their occurrence various environmental settings, exert ecotoxicity. However, only 25% have been characterized potential ecological concern. Despite market statistics highlighting substantial burden caused by unrestricted use additives, information on ecotoxicity remains incomplete. By focusing impacts present review aims provide detailed insights following aspects: (i) diversity environment, (ii) leaching from materials, (iii) trophic transfer, (iv) exposure, (v) risks health, (vi) legal guidelines mitigation strategies. These immense value restricting searching eco-friendly alternatives, establishing or revising agencies.

Terrestrial domestic animals are exposed to microplastics, therefore, contaminating the food chain, in case of livestock, or acting as sentinels for human exposure, companion animals. The aim this review was address importance terrestrial on exposure microplastics. Animal products may already show some microplastics contamination, which occur during their lifetime, possibly also compromising productivity, and processing, originating from equipment packaging. Moreover, release animal feces (or manure) leads contamination agricultural fields, with possible impacts internalization plants. Therefore, pose a threat security, safety, by being foreign material found products. Conversely, urban environments, (cats dogs) be relevant exposure. While oral vary pets compared humans, due indiscriminate ingestion chewing licking behaviors, airborne is likely good indicator future studies should both chain environmental

Groundwater, a crucial freshwater source faces increasing pollution from microplastics (MPs). This study aims to comprehensively review the aquifers, sampling and analysis methods, levels, polymer types, sizes of MPs in groundwater worldwide between 2017 2023. Very few reports exist on abundance, type, size, other characteristics field. The tools, sample collection quantities used for field varied considerably among studies. However, efforts enhance our understanding MP results through level measurements, on-site water quality parameters, ion analysis, blanks have been limited. mostly indicated higher concentrations urban industrial areas landfill sites, whereas lower were observed with minimal human influence. are predominantly polypropylene polyethylene. Standardized methods needed further promote research facilitate cross-comparisons.

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is a strategic agricultural crop that plays significant role in maintaining national food security and sustainable economic development. Increasing technical performance considering lowering costs, energy, environmental consequences are aims for wheat cultivation. For drylands, which cover approximately 41% of the world’s land surface, water stress has considerable negative impact on output. The current study aimed to assess aspects chemical fertilizer combination with compost dryland irrigated winter production systems through life cycle assessment (LCA). cradle-to-farm gate was considered as system boundary based one tone yield four strategies: D-C (dryland compost), D without I-C (irrigated I compost). Based results, highest lowest amounts were related strategies 12.2 6.7 ton ha−1, respectively. LCA result showed strategy comparison other had human health (49%), resources (59%), ecosystem quality (44%), climate change (43%). However, resulted adverse effect 6% health, 1% resources, 10% quality, 11% change. Utilizing areas could ensure higher crops addition alleviating indicators.
