To ensure the safety and stability of beach surface decommissioned uranium mill tailings pond, this paper uses red clay-bentonite clay (1:1) to carry out covering layer radon reduction simulation experiments study temperature, humidity, effect under natural conditions. The results show that exhalation rate cover is only 0.32 times clay, which has a better effect. water retention comparable heat preservation than layer. temperature curves follow same evolution trend were close together in outdoor conditions, humidity showed difference 1% 3%. Soil dominant factor affecting variation with unsaturated content.

The study of the influence geological structure (e.g., faults) on radon emanations is usually applicable provided that there are conditionally background (control) territories with which indicators will be compared. In presented study, we selected an area where pre-Cenozoic faults could potentially associated hazard Kuznetsk coal basin were not identified. cover deposits in represented by loamy and clayey strata overlying Paleozoic sedimentary cycles. field was estimated based flux density (RFD) activity concentration (RAC) soil gas. RAC measured two ways—by sorption method activated carbon active sampling gas from a borehole. At same time, role meteorological conditions physical properties assessed. Our shows local variations insignificant do have significant effect basin, exception moisture. High values territory considered as background, absence faults, suggest other causes (the presence latest Neogene–Quaternary high concentrations 226Ra, or insufficiently studied causes). Due to it possible assume diffusion type transfer environment, indicates shallow source such concentrations. results indicate studies 226Ra content additional similar areas should also carried out.

The decommissioning of uranium mill tailings pond generally employs covering layer to diminish radon exhalation, with soil permeability, thickness, and moisture content being essential considerations in assessing the efficacy reduction. This research uses a proprietary multi-field coupled seepage testing apparatus simulated exhalation device evaluate samples' permeability control effectiveness across different thicknesses, pressure gradients, levels. findings demonstrate that gas diminishes increasing exhibiting more pronounced decline at pressures below 0.35 MPa. Moreover, both thickness significantly influence rate, which decreases nonlinearly rise variables. A positive link exists between rate aligning natural exponential function model.
