In recent decades, chromium contamination in soil has emerged as a serious environmental issue, demanding an exploration of chromium's behavioral patterns different conditions. This study aims to simulate the release, migration, and impact (Cr) contaminated soils under natural rainfall conditions (wet-dry cycles). Clean sourced from Panzhihua were used cultivate chromium-containing soils. Simulated rainfall, prepared laboratory, was applied cultivated indoor simulated leaching experiments. The experiments three years Panzhihua. results indicate that with higher initial Cr contents result concentrations leachate, but all exhibit low cumulative release. leachate shows similar total organic carbon (TOC), pH, electrical conductivity, content changes. An analysis speciation after reveals significant decrease exchangeable fraction for each species, while residual oxidizable fractions notable increases. wet-dry cycle following effects on soil: it induces internal reduction reactions soil, leading Cr(VI) Cr(III); alters binding ions affecting migration chromium; involves microorganisms chemical processes consume matter soil. After rainwater leaching, released relatively amount chromium, resulting reduced potential risk groundwater system contamination. Most is fixed within less biotoxicity.

Acid rain and understory vegetation removal are critical drivers altering soil ecosystem alterations. However, the mechanisms by which these factors influence moisture dynamics, nutrient availability, microbially mediated enzyme activities remain insufficiently elucidated. This study investigated impacts of simulated acid on properties, activities, microbial community in a subtropical Cinnamomum camphor (Linn) Presl plantation. The results indicated that significantly decreased organic carbon (SOC) while concurrently elevating C-acquiring C limitation. Understory markedly reduced moisture, N- P-acquiring activities. Additionally, increased bacterial diversity, but fungal diversity. Moreover, both enhanced deterministic processes destabilized shifting generalists toward specialists, had no significant effect structure. Partial least squares path modeling revealed stability loss intensified limitation, regulated P Collectively, findings highlighted role buffering microclimate cycling, demonstrated communities more responsive to than communities. provides insights into anthropogenic disturbances alter ecological functions plantations, emphasizing need for integrated forest management strategies conserve manage ecosystems plantations.

Green roofs (GRs) are a widely recognized green infrastructure (GI) strategy that helps reduce runoff volume and pollution caused by the significant increase in impervious urban areas. However, leaching of several nutrients from GR substrates is growing concern. Biochar, carbon-rich material, possesses advantageous properties can help address such environmental challenges associated with GRs. Therefore, this paper aimed to undertake field study investigate impacts various biochar application methods, particle sizes, amendment rates on quality Observational data were collected over two-month period five newly established 1 m × biochar-amended test beds control bed without biochar, all subjected artificially simulated rainfall. The results indicated addition did not result improvement pH, whereas electrical conductivity (EC) was higher GRs substrates. When comparing total nitrogen (TN) concentration non-biochar (ranging 3.7 31 mg/L), exhibited TN release (4.8 58 except for where medium particles applied at bottom substrate 2.2 21 mg/L). Additionally, TP concentrations (0.81 2.41 mg/L) when compared (0.35 0.67 Among different setups, fine surface had poorest performance improving water quality. Despite these mixed results, holds potential improve significantly increasing retention, thereby reducing pollutant loads.

In the mid-seventeenth century in England, at epicenter of Industrial Revolution, due to high air pollution, observations were initiated on rainfall with acid content that harmed ecosystems. With industrial advancement a global scale, rain has become frequent many parts world. Acid results from chemical reactions, mostly mediated by anthropogenic actions such as activities cause emission sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) into atmosphere, produce strong acids sulfuric (H 2SO4) nitric (HNO3). These various damages human health well damage air, aquatic environment, attacking soils, agriculture, buildings, monuments. There are several international national instruments regulate guidelines prevent polluting thus try mitigate negative effects rain, most recent being Sustainable Development Orders (SDGs). Despite existing policies, it is necessary impose more sustainable regiments encourage research subject so that, together, acts severely against around This presents concept exposure risk factors, consequences, reflections challenges managing rain.
