This study investigates the combined effects of water drag forces and air pressure gradients on movement within headspace a circular pipe. Under free ventilation conditions, where enters system solely through natural suction induced by flow, positive were observed. The increased with both filling ratio flow rate. It was also found that near surface flowed downstream due to force, while pipe crown moved upstream. Forced introduced extractors positioned at upstream vents, adjustable power create varying airflow rates. Results showed beyond certain thresholds, extractor did not further enhance ventilation. forced ventilation, velocity profiles in non-boundary zone exhibited more uniform distribution higher power. drag, gradients, wall friction analyzed. critical negligible under obtained. coefficients calculated, ranging from 0.018 0.081 for 0.002 0.038 A semi-empirical equation calculating proposed. provides valuable insight into dynamics sewer systems, emphasizing role proper design mitigating odor corrosion issues.

This study investigates the degradation potential of metakaolin-based geopolymer (GP) composites when exposed to real and simulated acidic environments. Traditional OPC concrete, commonly used in wastewater treatment facilities, faces considerable deterioration due destructive chemical composition municipal wastewater. extensive investigation aims assess performance GP as a sustainable alternative such materials. The mortar samples were prepared subjected immersion primary clarifier unit at local plant (real) laboratory-made acetic acid solution (simulation) for up four weeks after curing. analysis included measurements % strength weight loss, well characterization techniques isothermal calorimetry, microstructure (SEM), mercury porosimetry (MIP). outcomes signified cumulative heat generation 534 J/g three days, with an average compressive 79.4 MPa past 28 days. Exposure led 13% decline 3.90% loss sample weight, while exposure resulted 18% 5.60% loss. Observations from SEM revealed microstructural changes, including formation biofilms air voids, indicating multifaceted interactions between matrix its surrounding environment. research effectively highlights improve durability against conditions, suggesting future applications construction infrastructure harsh

Long-distance sewerage network systems have serious vulnerabilities, specifically pipeline blockage, leakage, sedimentation, mixed connection, and other problems. A vulnerability evaluation system for a sewage was established in this study with the comprehensive consideration of three aspects: basic attributes network, operation maintenance (O&M) drivers, structural level. First, we obtained indicators through data collection preliminary selection screening indicators. The extent importance each criterion level to clarified principal component analysis (PCA), attribute being per capita GDP (X3) urbanization rate (X5), O&M-driven daily wastewater treatment volume (X7) industrial discharge (X8), structural-level pipe diameter (X13) flow capacity (X15). Qingshanhu District, Jiangxi province, taken as an example diagnosing evaluating vulnerability. Using ranking size PCA analytic hierarchy process (AHP) indicators, hierarchical structure model established. value by weighting results scores indicator. values attributes, were 58.38, 68.67, 73.17, which corresponded levels III, II, respectively.

This paper discusses the performance of calcium sulpho-aluminate (CSA) cement and a Sulphate-Resisting Portland Cement (SRPC) with fly ash (FA) additive (i.e., SRPC + FA binder system) in ‘live’ sewer environment; it deepens understanding their deterioration mechanisms by using laboratory test for simulated conditions. It also studies role an iron-based (‘Hard-Cem®’, HC) improving concrete under biogenic acid attack. The 0.4 w/b specimens three binders (CSA, FA, calcite aggregates exposure was assessed visual observation, measurements mass thickness changes, microstructural analysis approximately 25 months. test, i.e., Biogenic Acid Concrete (BAC) used to study these terms leaching solution pH standardised cumulative leached aluminium. results indicate that CSA had improved environment, showing no loss only about one-third lost over 25-month period environment. BAC complemented field observations. slightly reduced loss, likely due its better resistance abrasion erosion, but not any chemical influence, since does participate hydration or dissolution reactions. findings imply may represent suitable alternative construction. They suggest surface hardener has limited benefits, except when is abrasive Further investigation required, especially contains high amounts sulphate, effect which well understood.
