To explore the intergenerational cardiotoxicity of nanoplastics, maternal mice were exposed to 60 nm polystyrene nanoplastics (PS-NP) during pregnancy and lactation. The results showed that PS-NP can enter hearts offspring induce myocardial fiber arrangement disorder, acidophilic degeneration cardiomyocytes, elevated creatine kinase isoenzymes (CK-MB) lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels after exposure at 100 mg/kg Mechanistically, KEGG analysis RNA sequencing participation hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) ferroptosis in PS-NP-induced cardiotoxicity. Key features ferroptosis, including Fe2+ accumulation, mitochondrial injury, oxidative stress, GPX4 downregulation, FTH1, ACSL4, SLC7A11 upregulation, detected. Furthermore, treatment upregulated expressions HIF-1α HO-1, be alleviated by inhibition using si-HIF-1α. This study provided an insightful reference for assessment PS-NP.

In recent years, the study of microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs) their effects on human health has gained significant attention. The impacts NPs lipid metabolism specific mechanisms involved remain poorly understood. To address this, we utilized high-throughput sequencing molecular biology techniques to investigate how endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress might affect hepatic in presence polystyrene (PS-NPs). Our findings suggest that PS-NPs activate PERK-ATF4 signaling pathway, which turn upregulates expression genes related synthesis via ATF4-PPARγ/SREBP-1 pathway. This activation leads an abnormal accumulation droplets liver. 4-PBA, a known ER inhibitor, was found mitigate PS-NPs-induced disorder. These results demonstrate hepatotoxic clarify induced by PS-NPs.

Nanoplastics (NPs) pollution is a global issue posing potential threats to human health, particularly the digestive system. NPs may exacerbate intestinal inflammation, increasing risk of inflammatory bowel disease. However, impact peristalsis on NP-induced inflammation remains unknown. Here, biomimetic gut-on-a-chip (GOC) with integrated online sensing presented investigate NPs' and propose enhanced as intervention. The GOC simulates through periodic stretching optimized sensors dynamically detect cytokines interleukin-6 (IL-6) tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) over 12 d low detection limits (0.0095 0.0020 pg mL
