In recent decades, the impacts of urbanization on hydrological cycle have led to an increase in frequency and magnitude urban flooding events, this is also amplified by effects climate change. Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) provide a revolutionary change field, improving sustainability resilience cities. Sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) are nature-based methods of managing urban stormwater runoff. Although they widely used, some SuDS, such as highway filter drains (HFDs), understudied with respect to sizing and performance. For the first time, we developed an analytical probabilistic model (APM) that can be used design estimate hydrologic performance HFDs. Unlike conventionally design-storm based or continuous simulation approaches, our APM directly calculate runoff capture ratios HFDs using closed-form equations. Validation presented here shows it is robust reliable. The relative differences between APM-estimated simulation-determined for all simulated cases less than 8.5%.
