The toxicity of food additives is widely studied and concerns many consumers worldwide. Synthetic colors are often considered an unnecessary risk to consumer health. Since the European Food Safety Authority's (EFSA) re-evaluation between 2009 2014, body scientific literature on has grown, new evaluations being published by Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee Additives (JECFA). Therefore, this narrative review aims toxicological data that have become available since 2014. reviewed Quinoline Yellow, Sunset Azorubine, Amaranth, Ponceau 4R, Erythrosine, Allura Red, Patent Blue, Indigo Carmine, Brilliant Blue FCF, Green S, Black, Brown HT, Lithol Rubine BK. Tartrazine was not included in paper; overwhelming amount recent requires more space than can provide. issues regarding synthetic real population exposures regularly examined relevant authorities, such as EFSA JECFA. current ADI limits set authorities mostly agreement, they seem safe. However, JECFA assessments some a decade old, evidence will soon be required.

The treatment of textile wastewater (TWW) loaded with recalcitrant azo dyes in bioelectrochemical systems (BES) rather than physicochemical processes is a low-cost and environmentally friendly process. main objective this study to investigate the potential different saline sediments collected from extreme Tunisian environments for formation bioanodes capable ofsimultaneous degradation electric current generation synthetic (STWW) real wastewaters (RTWW) characterized by varied composition high salinity. obtained anolytes were studied comparatively electrochemical, microscopic, analytical, molecular tools.Based on UV–visible spectra analysis, breakdown bond was confirmed. With RTWW, BES achieved chemical oxygen demand (COD) abatement rate 85%with density 2.5 A/m2. Microbial community analysis indicated that diverse bacteria active effluent coupled energy production. At phylum level, electrodes primarily colonized proteobacteria firmicutes, which are two phyla most involved bioremediation. microbial also showed abundance Marinobacter hydrocarbonoclasticus sp. species their metabolic capacity, tolerance extremophilic conditions, role hydrocarbon degradation.
