Abstract Recent studies revealed that the increased level of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) may be deemed to one signs chronic inflammatory joint disease. Accordingly, development effective methods for rapid and accurate detection or monitoring HOCl in vivo is great significance further understanding role rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Herein, a ratiometric near‐infrared (NIR) fluorescent probe ( PTA ) was reported HOCl. In presence HOCl, electron‐rich S atom C=C double bond were oxidized sequence, resulting significant hypochromatic shift decline absorption spectra. Simultaneously, intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) process inhibited, causing intrinsic fluorescence emission from 680 550 nm. ‐based test paper strips successfully prepared applied determinate actual water samples by “naked eye” colorimetric method. features NIR emission, large Stokes (200 nm), low cytotoxicity, high sensitivity (33.9 nM), short response time (45 s), which enable it utilized imaging endogenous exogenous living zebrafish mice. More importantly, shows remarkable effectiveness HOCl‐mediated treatment RA. Consequently, provides new approach understand RA evaluate drug efficiency

As a key reactive oxygen species (ROS), hypochlorous acid (HClO) plays an important role in many physiological and pathological processes. The mitochondria-targeting probes for the highly sensitive detection of HClO are desirable. In present work, we designed synthesized original mitochondria-localizing turn-on fluorescent probe detecting HClO. 4-Aminonaphthalimide was employed as section, (2-aminoethyl)-thiourea unit utilized typical sensing unit, quaternized pyridinium moiety used mitochondria-targeted localization group. When absent, showed weak fluorescence. existence HClO, revealed blue Moreover, able to function broad pH scope. Reactive oxygen and nitrogen species are small reactive molecules derived from elements in the air─oxygen nitrogen. They produced biological systems to mediate fundamental aspects of cellular signaling but must be very tightly balanced prevent indiscriminate damage molecules. Small molecule probes can transmute specific nature each into an observable luminescent signal (or even acoustic wave) offer sensitive selective imaging living cells whole animals. This review focuses specifically on for superoxide, hydrogen peroxide, hypochlorite, nitric oxide, peroxynitrite that provide a or photoacoustic signal. Important background information general photophysical phenomena, common probe designs, mechanisms, modalities will provided, then, analyte thoroughly evaluated. A discussion successes field presented, followed by recommendations improvement future outlook emerging trends. Our objectives informative, useful, thorough guide as well important context compare ecosystem chemistries molecular scaffolds has manifested within field.

A novel near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent probe (SWJT-9) was designed and synthesized for the detection of hypochlorite anion (ClO-) using a diaminomaleonitrile group as recognition site. SWJT-9 had large Stokes shift (237 nm) showed an excellent NIR fluorescence response to ClO- with color change under visible light. It low limit (24.7 nM), high selectivity, rapid (within 2 min) ClO-. The new mechanism on confirmed by 1H NMR, MS spectrum, density functional theory (DFT) calculations. In addition, successfully used detect in HeLa cells.
