In this work, a novel fluorescence sensor UiO-66-PSM based on post-synthetic modified metal-organic frameworks was prepared for the detection of berberine hydrochloride (BBH) in traditional Chinese herb Coptis. synthesized by simple Schiff base reaction with UiO-66-NH2 and phthalaldehyde (PAD). The luminescence quenching can be attributed to photo-induced electron transfer process from ligand BBH. exhibited fast response time, low limit, high selectivity Moreover, successfully applied quantitative BBH Coptis, results obtained as-fabricated sensing assay were consistent those high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), indicating that work has potential applicability herbs.

This paper describes initially the application of Tyndall effect (TE) metal–organic framework (MOF) materials as a colorimetric signaling strategy for sensitive detection pyrophosphate ion (PPi). The used MOF NH2-MIL-101(Fe) was prepared with Fe3+ ions and fluorescent ligands 2-amino terephthalic acid (NH2-BDC). fluorescence NH2-BDC in is quenched due to ligand-to-metal charge transfer effect, while suspension shows strong TE. In presence PPi analyte, MOFs will undergo decomposition because competitive binding by over NH2-BDC, resulting significant decrease TE signal restoration from released ligands. results demonstrate that new method only requires laser pointer pen (for creation) smartphone portable quantitative readout) detect linear concentration range 1.25–800 μM, limit ~210 nM (3σ) which ~38 times lower than obtained traditional spectrophotometer (linear range, 50–800 µM; limit, 8.15 µM). Moreover, acceptable recovery several real samples (i.e., pond water, black tea, human serum urine) ranges 97.66 119.15%.
