Aged sarcopenia is characterized by loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength, mitochondrial dysregulation in myocyte considered as a major factor. Here, we aimed to analyze the effects peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator-1 alpha (PGC-1α) on reactive oxygen species (ROS) nuclear factor erythroid 2-related 2 (Nrf2) aged muscles.

The most prevalent reason for vision impairment in aging inhabitants is age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a posterior ocular disease with poor understanding of the anatomic, genetic, and pathophysiological progression disease. Recently, new insights exploring role atrophic changes retinal pigment epithelium, extracellular drusen deposits, lysosomal lipofuscin, various genes have been investigated AMD. Hence, this review explores incidence risk factors AMD, such as oxidative stress, inflammation, complement system, involvement bioactive lipids their angiogenesis. In addition to intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy other therapeutic interventions oral kinase inhibitors, photodynamic, gene, antioxidant therapy, well benefits drawbacks AMD treatment options, strategic drug delivery methods, including routes focus on pharmacokinetics, are investigated. Further, recent advancements nanoformulations polymeric lipid nanocarriers, liposomes, etc., intended pros cons too summarized. Neurodegenerative diseases are a group of disorders characterised by progressive loss brain function. The most common these is Alzheimer’s disease, form dementia. Intake macro- and micro-nutrients impacts function, including memory, learning, mood, behaviour. Lipids, particularly phospholipids sphingolipids, crucial structural components neural tissues significantly affect cognitive importance functional foods in preventing cardiovascular disease well-documented the current literature. However, significance such for central nervous system health neurodegenerative less recognized. Gut microbiome composition affects dietary lipids known to influence gut health. Thus, this review will discuss different sources their effect on functioning interaction with context disease.

On murine N2a cells, 7-ketocholesterol induced an oxiapotophagic mode of cell death characterized by oxidative stress (reactive oxygen species overproduction on whole cells and at the mitochondrial level; lipid peroxidation), apoptosis induction (caspase-9, −3 −7 cleavage, PARP degradation) autophagy (increased ratio LC3-II / LC3-I). Oxidative was strongly attenuated diphenyleneiodonium chloride which inhibits NAD(P)H oxidase. Mitochondrial peroxisomal morphological functional changes were also observed. Down regulation PDK1 Akt signaling pathways as well GSK3 Mcl-1 Nrf2 simultaneously observed in 7-ketocholesterol-induced oxiapoptophagy. These events prevented α-linolenic acid, eicosapentaenoic docosahexaenoic oleic acid α-tocopherol. The inhibition cytoprotection LY-294002, a PI3-K inhibitor, demonstrated essential role rescue. rupture oxiapoptophagy associated with important modifications glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase catalase activities peroxidase-1, dismutase-1 level expression. counteracted mercaptosuccinic peroxidase showed this enzyme Altogether, our data support that reactivation α-tocopherol are to prevent 7KC-induced

On cells, ability molecules inhibit 7KC-induced oxiapoptophagy (plasma membrane alteration, loss ΔΨm, peroxisomal dysfunction, reactive oxygen species overproduction, induction apoptosis autophagy) determined. ARPE-19 epithelial retinal cells also effect SSO on cell death. Unlike oil, had no over wide range concentrations. Noteworthy, unlike oxiapoptophagy, caspase-dependent mode death not associated with an accumulation lipid droplets. In addition, prevented oxidative stress These different characteristics make it possible envisage its use for therapeutic purposes diseases where levels are without eventual secondary side due droplets formation.
