Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), novel brominated flame retardants (NBFRs), phthalate esters (PAEs) are pervasive environmental pollutants, posing threats to both ecosystems and human health. Although several analytical methods were developed for these compounds, they not performed simultaneously. This study addresses the need a sustainable, novel, approach capable of simultaneously determining diverse chemical classes in edible fish muscles. Employing ultrasound extraction coupled with dispersive solid-phase (d-SPE) as cleanup procedure, method was compared conventional techniques, revealing significant improvements. Analytical parameters thoroughly assessed, innovative demonstrated notable advantages, reducing purification times by approximately 74–80 % solvent consumption around 94–97 %. Applied Mediterranean Sea samples, results underscore method's potential viable, sustainable alternative traditional approaches, promising enhanced efficiency reduced impact.

The photocatalytic degradation of the emerging contaminant paracetamol in aqueous solution has been studied under 1 SUN (~1000 W m−2) presence four commercial TiO2 powders, namely sub-micrometric anatase and rutile, nanometric brookite P25 (the popular anatase/rutile mixture used as a benchmark most papers). rutile powder showed low activity, whereas, interestingly, powders outperformed terms total conversion to carboxylic acids, which, according literature, are final products its degradation. This study is a preliminary assessment of the emerging and persistent contaminants (EPCs) in ecologically sensitive Kamphuan Stream Southern Thailand. The analysis 15 compounds revealed that EPC concentrations below main community were significantly elevated during rainy season, with highest levels found for sucralose (9070 ng/L), metformin (6250 fexofenadine (5110 gabapentin (3060 ng/L). These spatiotemporal patterns highlight episodic nature contamination driven by urban stormwater runoff, where rainfall events create temporary pathways transport EPCs to streams draining into coastal ecosystems. Maximum three pharmaceuticals (diclofenac, gemfibrozil, ibuprofen), as well sucralose, caffeine, fenobucarb, exceeded general predicted no-effect (PNECs) marine or fresh waters; however, these not persistent. Limited sampling across campaigns constrained ability fully characterize dynamics this issue through statistical inference.
