Journal of Separation Science, Journal Year: 2024, Volume and Issue: 47(11)

Published: May 31, 2024

Sample preparation, including extraction, separation, and purification, is a vital process for natural product analysis. As an attractive sample pretreatment method, magnetic solid‐phase extraction (MSPE) has gained plenty of attention, mainly due to its simpler operation, less consumption organic solvents, shorter processing time than traditional SPE. This updated review devoted summarizing the applications MSPE based on different nanomaterials in analysis various products complex matrixes, such as biological samples, plants, Chinese herbal preparations past four years (2020–2023). The preparation fabrication materials are briefly introduced. Furthermore, mechanism interaction forces between adsorbent analytes elaborated, advantages disadvantages adsorbents coupled with analytical methods summarized. Moreover, future trends opportunities discussed. It expected that this work can provide information research fields.

This review presents an outline of the application most popular sorbent-based methods in food analysis. Solid-phase extraction (SPE) is discussed based on analyses lipids, mycotoxins, pesticide residues, processing contaminants and flavor compounds, whereas solid-phase microextraction (SPME) having volatile compounds but also mind. Apart from these two methods, other techniques, such as stir bar sorptive (SBSE), molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), high-capacity sorbent (HCSE), needle-trap devices (NTD), are outlined. Additionally, novel forms thin-film (TF-SPME) presented. The utility challenges related to techniques this review. Finally, directions need for future studies addressed.

In this work, a boronate affinity-functionalized hierarchical mesoporous metal–organic framework adsorbent with sites only in the small mesopore has been structured based on UiO-66@Fe3O4. The introduction of large mesopores can promote diffusion cis-diol-containing compounds (cis-diols) into channels, and removal adsorption external surface materials enhance size-exclusion effect adsorbent. addition, faster kinetics excellent selectivity to cis-diols. Finally, magnetic dispersive solid-phase extraction coupled high-performance liquid chromatography was established for enrichment detection nucleotides plasma. Four achieve recoveries from 93.25 118.79%, limits 0.35 1.26 ng·mL–1, intra-day inter-day relative standard deviations less than 10.2%. conclusion, method be directly used cis-diol targets complex biological samples without protein precipitation prior extraction.
