Over the past decade, deep eutectic solvents (DES) have been widely studied and applied in sample preparation techniques. Until recently, most of synthesized DES were hydrophilic, which prevented their use extraction aqueous samples. However, after 2015 studies on synthesis application hydrophobic (HDES) has rapidly expanded. Due to unique properties HDES i.e. density, viscosity, acidity or basicity, polarity volatility, good extractabilities for various target analytes, could be altered by careful selection hydrogen bond donor (HBD) acceptor (HBA) components, are promising alternatives traditional organic employed preparation. Moreover, possibility non-toxic ingredients, makes meet all standards green analytical chemistry. Practical applications include conventional liquid-liquid extraction, several types liquid-phase microextraction, as well solid phase extraction. The present review covers a comprehensive summarizing available literature data important physicochemical playing key role methods, limitations challenges this area, perspective future described.
