The plastics industry has revolutionized several sectors, from packaging to automotive, enabling companies develop innovative products and enhance their economic competitiveness. However, the exponential growth of this also resulted in a concerning increase plastic waste, leading environmental repercussions such as microplastic contamination, marine pollution landfills. Therefore, researchers, governments, industrial stakeholders are starting work collaboratively address sustainability issue by adopting life cycle perspective. Nevertheless, waste generation is not slowing down, management strategies, along with other actions across value chain, need be improved. While limiting single-use promoting sustainable consumer practices crucial, these measures alone may sufficient. Figuring out how maximize materials' lifespan exploring circular economy opportunities just important minimizing global consumption. This research explores challenges faced draws prototype roadmap identify business routes implementation. It builds on previous works roadmapping defining vision, identifying drives, highlighting discussing enablers. Results systematize expand identified scientific literature reports whilst clearly outlining vision.

Engaging the general public in research processes through citizen science allows for innovative scientific studies and makes accessible to public. Effective communication strategies are crucial success of such initiatives. The program Plastic Pirates investigated plastic pollution rivers implemented a variety with participating schoolchildren, teachers, youth groups (e.g., sport associations, scouts or educational vacation programs, representing approximately 6% groups). These were continuously revised adapted since its start 2016. Without time-efficient keep track conversations, it would not have been possible achieve goals program, i.e., help teachers increase environmental awareness literacy their produce peer-reviewed articles based on collected data. Communication within was divided into four distinct phases: 1) recruiting motivating participants, 2) coordination guidance 3) data reception revision, 4) sharing updates results. Some obstacles that had be overcome successful e.g., time constraints obtaining from lag between active involvement participants actual analysis publication results, limited personnel resources available efforts. Our recommendations other practitioners include regular transparent regarding contribution, use adequate various channels, shifting workload coordinating team initiative, as well offering feedback findings scientists, thereby disseminating results program.

Since the 1950s, billions of tons primary plastic waste have been generated around globe to date. Instead current linear make-use-dispose economy, a circular plastics economy is said be able reduce pollution in environment. Recently, United Nations Environment Assembly adopted resolution forge globally binding treaty addressing by full life cycle and taking such approach. A approach for has already EU. Therefore, this contribution sets out some lessons that UN Treaty can learn from implementation EU’s plastics. These relate restriction on placing market certain products, introduction ecodesign requirements establishment EPR schemes. The EU legal framework shows it important take into account inherent interlinkage between not only stages, but also different provisions obligations, order maximize unlock synergies tackling pollution.

Increasing the proportion in resulted higher lightness values, yellowness but redness values content decreased. Weight proportions up to 50 improved (both Izod impact flexural strength). cross-sectional surface after testing was smooth, whereas composite rough. Sensory showed reduced appearance scores, color texture overall preference scores odor increased compared spoons. Maximum force increasing bran. An increase maximum measured equipment related decrease scores. Spoons promise single-use cutlery packaging.
