Wastewater generation and treatment is an ever-increasing concern in the current century due to increased urbanization industrialization. To tackle situation of increasing environmental hazards, numerous wastewater approaches are used—i.e., physical, chemical, biological (primary tertiary treatment) methods. Various techniques being used have risks producing secondary pollutants. The most promising technique use different materials as adsorbents that a higher efficacy treating wastewater, with minimal production Biosorption key process highly efficient cost-effective. This method majorly uses adsorption process/mechanism for toxicant removal from wastewater. review elaborates major agricultural non-agricultural materials-based sorbents been their possible mechanisms pollutant removal. Moreover, this creates better understanding how these can be enhanced by modification or treatments other substances. also explains re-usability and/or disposal safe environmentally friendly way, along highlighting research gaps potential future directions. Additionally, cost benefit ratio elucidated.

Abstract The global problem of the presence human and veterinary pharmaceuticals in environment is under investigation. Despite increase knowledge its sources, fates impacts, assessment risks derived prevention actions are limited to single cases. predicted increasing trend usage forces various parties involved think about comprehensive mitigation actions. There many areas daily life industrial operations where such should take place. Thereby, presented review, were summarized divided into following groups: A. design, synthesis production pharmaceuticals, B. prescription, sales waste handling, C. control sources with advanced technologies. As total amount proposed was found be quite high, a ranking according term effects using pyramid needs. advantages taken first steps pharmaceutical cycle (acting on upstream) over end-of-pipe application technologies (the downstream option) discussed, reference expert opinions.

Combined sewer overflows (CSOs) are of major environmental concern for impacted surface waterbodies. In the last decades, storm events have become increasingly regular in some areas, and meteorological scenarios predict a further rise their frequency. Consequently, control treatment CSOs with respect to best practice examples, innovative solutions, management systems an inevitable necessity. As result, number publications concerning quality, quantity, type treatments has recently increased. This review therefore aims provide critical overview on effects, control, terms impact environment public health, strict measures addressed by regulations, various alternatives including natural compact treatments. Drawing together previous studies, guideline also proposed better practices.

Stormwater runoff clearly impacts water quality and ecological health of urban receiving waters. Subsequent management efforts are often guided by conceptual models contaminant "first flushes", defined disproportionate concentrations or mass loads early in the storm hydrograph. However, studies examining dynamics transport hydrology have primarily focused on "traditional" stormwater contaminants point sources, with less evaluation chemically complex nonpoint pollution sources. Accordingly, we conducted baseflow sampling Miller Creek, a representative small, watershed Puget Sound region (WA, USA). We comprehensively characterized organic profiles via targeted quantification 35 stormwater-derived chemicals, complementary nontarget HRMS analyses, surrogate chemical metrics health. For quantified analytes, total daily were 0.8-3.4 g/day event ∼80-320 g/storm (∼48 h interval), nine detected during storms at >500 ng/L. Notably, creek "pollutographs" much broader than relatively sharp hydrographs exhibited transport-limited (rather mass-limited) source dynamics, immediate degradation low-intensity precipitation continued mobilization across entire Study outcomes support prioritization identification to improve promote ecosystem function small
