Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), including both domestic and industrial facilities, are key contributors to antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) human pathogens in the environment. However, characteristics dissemination mechanisms of ARGs (SD) (SI) wastewater systems remain unclear, leading uncertainties risk assessment. Based on metagenomic analysis, we observed significant differences compositions resistome (ARGs metal genes, MRGs), mobilome (mobile genetic elements, MGEs), bacterial community between SD SI. SI exhibited lower diversity but higher abundance MRGs compared SD. The removal efficiency was than that MGEs emerged as primary driver ARG WWTPs, followed by community. Environmental conditions (physicochemical parameters, heavy metals, antibiotics) indirectly influenced variation resistome.
