Abstract Emotion dysregulation is central to the development and maintenance of psychopathology, common across many psychiatric disorders. Neurobiological models emotion involve fronto-limbic brain network, including in particular amygdala prefrontal cortex (PFC). Neural variability has recently been suggested as an index cognitive flexibility. We hypothesized that within-subject neural network would be related inter-individual variation context low affective control. In a multi-site cohort ( N = 166, 93 females) healthy individuals with emotional (attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar (BD), borderline personality (BPD)), we applied partial least squares (PLS), multivariate data-driven technique, derive latent components yielding maximal covariance between blood-oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) signal at rest dysregulation, expressed by lability, depression mania scores. PLS revealed one significant component r 0.62, p 0.044), whereby greater was associated increased amygdala, hippocampus, ventromedial, dorsomedial dorsolateral PFC, insula motor cortex, decreased occipital regions. This spatial pattern bears striking resemblance which thought subserve regulation, impaired ADHD, BD, BPD. Our work supports transdiagnostic dimension neurobiological underpinnings transcend diagnostic boundaries, adds evidence being relevant proxy efficiency.

Abstract Exposure to childhood adversity has been consistently associated with poor developmental outcomes, but it is unclear whether these associations vary across different forms of adversity. We examined cross‐sectional and longitudinal between threat deprivation cognition, emotional processing, psychopathology in a middle‐income country. The sample consisted 2511 children adolescents (6–17 years old) from the Brazilian High‐Risk Cohort for Mental Conditions. Parent reports on were used construct latent constructs. Psychopathology was measured by Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) generate measure general (the “p” factor). Executive function (EF) attention orienting toward angry faces assessed using cognitive tasks. All measures acquired at two time‐points 3 apart tested linear models. Higher levels predicted higher cross‐sectionally longitudinally, longitudinally. For EF, worse performance only baseline follow‐up. Finally, towards cross‐sectionally, neither form changes over time bias. Our results suggest that have differential development psychopathology. during complex phenomenon meaningful influences child development. Because can take many forms, dimensional models might help disentangle specific correlates types early experience. Although child maltreatment (CM) experiences are recognized risk factors for nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI), the mechanisms underlying this relationship remain unclear. The purpose of study was to examine whether difficulty in emotion regulation (DER) and depressive symptoms mediate between NSSI severity, adjusting demographic variables. The participants were 224 adolescent inpatients recruited from a hospital China (mean age 15.30 years, SD = 1.83; 78.6% females). Study measures included Clinician-Rated Severity Nonsuicidal Self-Injury (CRSNSSI), Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ-SF), Difficulties Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). hypothesized chain mediation model tested using structural equation model.A total 146 (65.18%) adolescents reported engaging during past 12 months, 103 (45.98%) met DSM-5 diagnostic criteria NSSI. Emotional neglect (48.1%) emotional abuse (46.1%) had highest prevalence, followed by physical (43.1%) (24.1%), whereas sexual (12.5%) least prevalent form CM. Separately, both DER significantly mediated association CM NSSI, with being strongest mediator, an indirect effect 49.40% (p 0.014). At same time, we also proved potential chain-mediated pathway depression NSSI.Child seems play role aetiology have mediating Importantly, be mediator stronger compared symptoms.

The ability to identify and label one’s emotions is associated with effective emotion regulation, rendering emotional awareness important for mental health. Objective The immediate impact of child maltreatment on health and developmental trajectories over time is unknown. Longitudinal studies starting in the direct aftermath exposure with repeated follow‐up are needed. Method We assessed outcomes 6‐month intervals 2 years 173 children, aged 3–5 at study entry, including 86 children to emotional physical abuse or neglect within 6 months 87 nonmaltreated children. Assessments included clinician‐administered, self‐ parent‐report measures psychiatric behavioral symptoms, development, health. Linear mixed models latent growth curve analyses were used contrast between groups investigate features trajectories. Results Maltreated exhibited greater numbers diagnoses ( b = 1.998, p < .001), externalizing 13.29, .001) internalizing 11.70, impairments cognitive −11.586, verbal −10.687, motor development −7.904, .006), medical symptoms 1.021, compared across all time‐points. Lifetime severity and/or age earliest predicted adverse time. Conclusion profound, immediate, stable supports a biological embedding model provides foundation scrutinize precise underlying mechanisms. Such knowledge will enable early risk markers mechanism‐driven interventions that mitigate maltreated
