Limited research has focused on consumption reduction as one potential pathway to meet sustainable development goals. This paper investigates consumers' intentions undertake through the lens of an extended theory planned behavior (TPB), where selected individual differences, namely need for evaluation (NE) and self-referencing (SR), are given considerable attention. In total, 226 respondents participated in this web-based survey study. The results from structural equation modeling analysis confirm that effectively explains reduction. Notably, differences NE SR each uniquely moderate relationships within TPB model. study provides a theoretical contribution by integrating moderators (i.e., SR) into framework, increases TPB's predictive power, further novel understanding underlying influences benefit environment. Moreover, findings offer practical implications policymakers social marketers designing tailor-made interventions strategies considering important role differences.
