Rapid social-economic development introduces modern lifestyles into rural areas, not only bringing numerous products but also new pollutants, such as chlorinated paraffins (CPs). The Tibetan Plateau has limited industrial activities and is a unique place to investigate this issue. Herein we collected 90 free-range chicken egg pool samples across the evaluate pollution status of CPs. Meanwhile, CPs in related soils, eggs from Jiangxi, farmed markets were analyzed. median concentrations SCCPs (159 ng g–1 wet weight (ww)) MCCPs (1390 ww) comparable those Jiangxi (259 938 significantly higher than (22.0 81.7 ww). In Plateau, EDI via consumption by adults children estimated be 81.6 220.2 kg–1 bw day–1 for 483.4 1291 MCCPs, respectively. might pose potential health risks both worst scenario. Our study demonstrates that pollutants should ignored need further attention remote areas.
