Offshore wind energy is a fast growing sector of renewable energies worldwide. This will change the marine environment and thus, wide range environmental impacts offshore farms are subject current research. Here we present an overview about chemical emissions from corrosion protection systems, discuss their relevance potential impact to environment, suggest strategies reduce emissions. Corrosion general problem for infrastructures systems necessary maintain structural integrity. These often in direct contact with seawater have different potentials emissions, e.g. galvanic anodes emitting substantial amounts metals. Organic coatings may release organic substances due weathering and/or leaching. Current assumptions suggesting low impact, but monitoring data not sufficient assess this new source.

Abstract Background The Fish Embryo Acute Toxicity (FET) test with the zebrafish ( Danio rerio ) embryo, OECD guideline (TG) 236, has been designed as an alternative for acute fish toxicity testing such Test (TG 203). To provide equivalent sensitivity to test, original FET was use only four morphological core endpoints: coagulation of lack somite formation, heart beat, and non-detachment tail. These endpoints were selected due (1) their association mortality, directly or indirectly, (2) improve practicality screening by well-trained technical staff, (3) being relatively simple alterations. Results With growing need understand developmental compounds found in environment, protocol repeatedly extended a multitude additional that also allow monitoring teratogenicity. As extensive generated observations scientific literature, harmonisation terminology used description effects seen after chemical exposure become necessary. Conclusion For this end, present communication provides overview both common more specific embryos wide variety substances together suggestions harmonised nomenclature.
