Surface tension, conductivity, and dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements were used to examine the surface bulk solution behaviors of three members PFAS family, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorobutanesulfonic (PFBS), potassium salt perfluorooctanesulfonic (PFOS). Measurements carried out in solutions having variable (acidic) pH buffered = 8.0. tension data show traditional soluble surfactant behavior, results illustrate that PFOA, PFBS, PFOS activity depends sensitively on phase pH. The tightly packed monolayers formed by PFOA mildly acidic imply is several units lower than bulk. Results from conductivity experiments generally increasing with concentration. In 8.0 solutions, changes slope concentration suggest onset micelle formation at concentrations <1 mM, markedly reported literature. general, apparent critical (CMCs) determined agree similar predictions made results.
